The question is: will the added few yards (in general less than 5 - 10 yds, or so, for irons) be worth the added cost?

Will you wince when a 98% fresh RZN at 2.50/ball goes'kerplunk!' into the pond by CCC#5 green, when u were gunning for makeable eagle on the short pin? That supposed extra yardage worth it?

The trend I'm seeing amongst TL/Legends I play with is: initial trial, commit to a few sleeves more ... and then ease on back to a 'best performance/cost' ball that works well with their equipment set.

For me, right now, it's Nike level 81 balls. But I see a range of Nikes, Callies, and even WGT balls.

On the other hand, if you compete in RGs and other 'money' games, and the slight improvements magically produce some winnings to offset that added 'cost per stroke' ... well, go for it!

I play only the RZN Red, because of less spin, but the Black must be a tiny bit longer, maybe, (I don't remember).. the spin value needs attention because of the different reactions from course to course in driving. ie. at Pine, it goes farther with 3/4 BS, while at st andy, full BS is farther...all three balls are plenty long.

The biggest driving humiliaions I've been subjected to involve the XI-X (81+).  Seems like legeds who use that against me outdrive me by anywhere from 35 to 80 yards, depending on wind.

The only reason to use the high dollar balls is the slower meter...they go a little further off the tee than most balls but if you hit an iron with full b/s you easily could lose distance they have so much spin....IMO the 500 credit 61 nike is the best ball for overall distance...the Red nike has the same spin with 1/2 dot more distance 650 credits...

the nike 81 is a good ball but the spin rate isn't good for ME....

I would love to try the slower meter 4.0 but for the extra 200 creds a sleeve I stick with the 3.5 meter speed...I am playing with my R11 irons right now for the faster meter, when I get used to them i switch back to the Nike irons and the meter seems slow again lol.

When I'm playing bad I go the other way and use a few sleeves of Calloway lvl 34 balls to get back on track...

All of this is just my opinion having played with several different balls this is what works for me....
