If you should travel to Santa Barbara, CA with your sticks in hand, you should make every attempt to play La Cumbre Country Club. Beauty is in every direction the eye can yield. It is just off of Hwy 101 (1) just close enough to the Pacific Ocean to have in near sight and to enjoy abundant oxygen and the special smell it serves up. The course is a 1929 gemstone done by the same dude (name ?) that did Pine Valley in NJ. Walter Hagen has played it. It is in spectacular condition and rather hilly to offer down-hill, up-hill, side-hill shots that don't annoy. It is short by today's standards. I played the whites and it was 6,100 yards, 72 par with a 70.2 rating and a 126 slope. The greens are small, fast and undulating. Flat putts & chips (if you get any.. lol) will, without fail, break toward the ocean. The 13th, a 3 par offers two tees & two green choices (never saw that before). It is a truly fun, terrific experience...awesome...0h, I played well...70...~ SP ~
