I can't understand why WGT would feature a certain green speed for the qualifying stage of the U.S. Open for 2 months, then slow the greens way down to elicit artificially high scores. I shot -1 just now when I tried hard to qualify for nothing. I have no incentive to complete the final 3 rounds. Terrible.

Chin up, GB.  I trundled through with a 65, never did get the feel for the speed.

The top players will deal with it and shoot their normal great scores.  Just be happy to have qualified and give it your best shot, we owe it to ourselves and to those who tried so hard to qualify to keep plugging away no matter the odds or the outcome.

Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, but it was sacked in a New York minute.

Think it kind of fell in on itself as much as anything too:)

Bit like my round with two frikin bogeys clutched from the jaws of two bird chances, lol.  Never got the green speed down either.

Qualification was my only realistic goal, and so I have no ego to massage (not saying the OP did at all).  Just happy to go straight in, play it out to and let the cards fall where they may.

I'm glad we aren't getting Champ speed for all 4 rounds.  Different wind/greens for each round will ensure the best all round players rise to the top rather than those who just play the same conditions week in week out.

I still haven't got over the shock of qualifying so just riding the wave :D
