Is there a way to get a smoother, more of a fine mover on your mouse? It seems it is very hard to just get it to move a small amount.

    Thanks

I have Maxthon 3 and prevent it from updating by disabling the update file. Maxthon 4 may also use this file but I'm not sure.

The file is called MxUp.exe and can be found here, (assuming Maxthon is installed on your C drive)...
    C ⋙
    Program Files
    or
    Program Files (x86)
    ⋙ Maxthon3 [or Maxthon4 if you have that ] ⋙ Bin ⋙ MxUp.exe

The file can be disabled by renaming the extension. This way you can prevent it from running and also still find it should you ever need to re-enable it.

Renaming the extension is simply a case of replacing the .exe with something else, .unused for example.

You may get a warning when you do this, advising you that the file may become unusable if you change the extension name, but as this is what you want, you can ignore the warning.

IMPORTANT : If you do not see the filename extensions when viewing your files in Windows explorer, you will have to change the folder options.

Open your Control Panel and click on Appearance and Personalization, then click on Folder Options. In the Folder Options dialogue box click on the View tab. In the window, Uncheck the Hide Extensions For Known File Types option, then click OK.

Previous versions of Maxthon can be found HERE or HERE.

Another way to stop Maxthon updating is to disable the scheduled running of the MxUp file.

It is not necessary to both rename and disable the scheduled running of the MxUp file. Doing either one will suffice.

Although this video shows how to stop Chrome from updating, the procedure for Maxthon is the same. You just have to look for the Maxthon task in the scheduler.

1). Locate the Maxthon task in the scheduler main panel.
2). Right click on it and select Disable from the context menu.
3). This shows the program that the scheduled task is set to run. If you click on the image to view it full size, you will see that it is the MxUp.exe file.

Thanks Scott, found it but its too much movement to get the arrow to move from one side of the screen to the other.

Also read to uncheck  the enhance pointer box . Is that true

Use Bulletin Board Code To Enhance Your Posts
(does not work in private messaging or blog posts)

I don’t know why I haven’t thought about showing you how to use BB code (Bulletin Board) to modify your posts before now, as I have used it on other forums, guess I just forgot when I was trying to get a grip on HTML.

Anyway, with BB code there is no need to delve into the HTML editor, it can all be implemented from within the message editor.

To colour a bit of text you just have to do this...

    [‍color=red] I want this text red [/color]

    I want this text red

...the brackets for the code have to be the square ones by the way.

To change the size of your text is equally simple...

[‍size=20px] This text is large [/size]

    This text is large

The size unit, px in the above example, can be either px (pixel) % (percent) pt (point) mm (millimetres) or em.

Changing the font is again, very similar...

[‍font=embassy bt] This is a different font [/font]

    This is a different font

To make a horizontal line across your post

    [‍hr]

Text & picture alignment, again, very easy...

[‍right] This text is right aligned [/right]

    This text is right aligned

    [‍center] ScottHope [/center]

    ScottHope

...with alignment you have the three basic options, left, right and center.

If you want to make an email address clickable, all you need to do is surround it with the email tag...

    [‍email] members@worldgolftour.com [/email]

    members@worldgolftour.com

You can also make a web address into a clickable link by adding the url tag, but the web address has to be complete, from the protocol ‘http’ to the domain ‘.com’. For example...

    [‍url] www.wgt.com [/url]

    www.wgt.com

    ...does not work, but...

    [‍url] http://www,wgt.com [/url]

    http://www.wgt.com

    ...will.

    Have fun.  : )
