    Hi everyone,

I don't have much knowledge about these things and would appreciate some input on where I should be heading with my clubs.

After getting some credits from an offer I upgraded to the R11 full set because they got good reviews and seemed to be well-balanced.

I've played with them for a while and I'm discovering that (probably because I'm just not very good!) I'm having problems with my short game.

For a start I suspect I need to get my wedges sorted out - I miss having a 90yd PW as a lot of my shots end up in that range and I find it quite hard to judge with my 110yd PW. I love the CG16 because the ball just stops dead on landing. I jokingly call the cheap gold wedge 'magic' because it gets me out of all sorts of trouble but I'm sure there are better options!

I've upgraded my driver today to the R1 and I love it. I'm not sure where to go with my irons but I have real trouble with the meter, so I was wondering whether to go with the highest meter/forgiveness I can get away with? Or would that be a big mistake?

I hope someone with far greater knowledge than me can chip in (ho ho) on this.

    Many thanks!

I would go for the 56 and 60 cleveland wedge to help you out with the short game.

The irons you are using have a 3.5 meter so you can't really improve on that if you want to advance.

if you have credits to burn then a slower ball will help slow them down.

The level 38/39 Taylor made wedges should hold you for quite awhile.

    They come in several flavors.

Now thing to learn is the punch shot as well...i/e a 100 yard wedge, will probably punch in the 86-88 yard range...with some top spin applied, you can stretch that out 3-5 yards.

I'd have suggested the 40-ish level Pings, (for cost) but seems WGT has dropped the 64 degree Ping wedge with the new line up.

I think your only other alternative would be wait a few more levels and look at the MAX wedges in the low 50's level...but keep in mind the higher level clubs generally cost more.

    Good luck

Mike you may be equating the ATV's with the old Z-Satins. From my limited experience with the ATV's they can't hold a candle to the old Z-Satins. They just are not as consistent and are way over priced for their effectiveness. I still have and use 2 of the old Z-Satins in my CTTH set-up.

As for the Pings I have no clue why they dropped the 64 degree when they brought out the new wedges. Maybe Ping doesn't offer a 64 degree in that line.

If I were the OP I would get the Cleveland wedges.

Op already has 1 cleveland and would be better of getting the other two , rather than mixing things up

corrected OP already has the full set now.

Enjoy them they will help your short game.

I certainly do now have the full set...thank you very much indeed siggipj76!!!

Looking at the distances I think they will really help. Can't wait to try!

Any other suggestions in terms of the irons for later on (or indeed anything else) would be much appreciated. Let's see how I get on with these wedges!

Makes good sense...everyone said when the ATV's came out, WGT just redid the Satins and upped the price.

@GameplayJenny: I'd also suggest the L58 G25 3W, as it will help you on long 2nd shots on par 4s (OLY 1 and BPB 7 as well as PIN#2 4) and par 5s.
