Would not perfection be boring? Why do we play this little online game? Its because its a challenge, I too have had the lip outs but I also know it happens in RL where the greens change form hour to hour , why not on WGT?

I agree to a point, but that isn't the point! When you hit the perfect speed and its middle right of the hole, it shouldn't lip out. This isnt real golf and this wouldnt even happen in real golf. When you play well and hit good shots you should be rewarded, not penalized. I realize sometimes in real life you can hit a perfect shot and get unlucky... For example, tigers shot on the par 5 14th at augusta when he hit the pin and rolled into water at the last years masters, but that stuff doesn't happen nearly as much as it does in this game. Perfection should be hard to achieve, but when you do play at this level you should be rewarded and it's certainly not boring. But wgt has decided this is not the approach they wanted to take. Instead of making this more difficult, ie minimizing performance of clubs, fine tuning UEL so it can be used in more regular play, or increasing green speeds. Theyve decided to add VEM, and this new hole physics which is neither realistic nor enjoyable. People will shoot these scores anyway, but one needs some luck on their side to shoot the way they can. So ultimately sometimes "skill" becomes somewhat irrelevent for those last couple strokes.

I was just penalized again last night. I likely put together the best game after 4 years on here. I played the First Tee Championship. I went eagle on #4 and 6, I should have had a 24 on front but got one of these ridiculous lipouts on #8 par 3. I was birdying everything on the back and then got another ridiculous lipout on #15 par 3 that was dead right middle of the cup. It rimmed all the way around the cup(360). And finished the back with a 27. So a 52 really should have been a 50. If they don't want these scores, they shouldnt have put out this equipment. They obviously realized their mistake and have been trying to right it. Implementing this vem and hole physics bullcrap was not the right direction. It's just an annoyance. It makes the game less fun. FAR from making this game more realistic, but that's what they were trying for. At least they tried, albeit a lousy attempt.

I'm thinking AB has a big MPC coming up...and he's hoping his opponent  will read this;)

Unless he's been WD'ing, he's been posting mighty fine rounds for the past two weeks.

    C'mon AB...lil gamesmanship happening here;) ?

Shhhhh B, you're giving my strategy away ;)

But no, I have had a few wd's here and there. And those came about from this lip out nonsense. And a few rounds although good, could have been great. Instead of 56 55, I could've been getting more 53 54's.

I've always viewed a lip out as a missed putt. Nothing more.

Not sure you understand what I'm getting at. There are some lipped out putts that are my fault, and I'll be the first to raise my hand and admit it. But, there is something else going on. There's obviously been a change to the physics. I first noticed it about the time the us open qualifiers started. I'm certainly not the only one who's noticed.

    I have to agree.

I mean, I'm just a mediocre player, but when I lip out, I thought I misaligned the putt. No WGT interaction.

It seems a lot of people missed Agentbrowns point. I didn't.. and agree, if the shot is hit perfect...it should work and not veer offline by 2 ft. Of course there are mishits and WTF shots here, but a 5ft. straight putt should not lipout when hit properly.

We have all spent many hours and $$ here to learn this crazy game and a good shot should be rewarded with a good result. An accomplished piano player would be pizzed if all of a sudden the keys changed position....No ?

VEM is irritating enough on it's own. But now you feel the need to change the physics of the hole?

I have a finely tuned formula. It's worked great for over 2 years now. I know how it reacts and how fast to hit a putt so that if it hits towards the edge of the cup, it will still drop.

Now, if you are even just a little off center, it will lip out! Even if you hit with the perfect speed! Which to me is 1-2 feet past the hole.

I know you really try to be realistic, but you fail miserably when you try to do that. This is not at all realistic! it just serves as another way to annoy people. Especially players who've been here awhile.

I must have had over 20 lipped out putts today alone. Putts that look dead center, veers of just a bit off center and lips completely around the hole.

If you're going to change crap like this wgt, you need to announce what you're planning to either a group of top players or country club owners and see what the general consensus is BEFORE you implement it. AND, If you're so concerned about people shooting these low scores... you should increase the green speed or fine tune UEL. Messing with physics related to the hole and not announcing it is a bunch of crap to be frank.

From what i have seen over last few days ,it seems the wind is moving the putts more than they did,

    I respectfully disagree on that...

I don't know what anyone else sees, but when a putt of mine burns the edge I see a little white line appear on the ball  briefly  at the spot on the ball that was not within the programmed hole, sometime on the edge of the ball, other time in the middle...when the holes are set tight that line shows that at times 75-90% of the ball was within the hole but lip out or just don't fall...approach shots will not only roll right over the hole but roll right through the flag...

at other times when they are set loose, if half the ball is within the hole parameters it fall or lips out..

there is a huge difference in these settings...does anyone else see the line?
