As for any American who talks sh-t about your country's capital, then why on earth do you live here? WHY? If America is sooooo f'ing bad. If our government is sooooo f'ing bad. If our economy is sooooo f'ing bad. THEN WHY LIVE HERE? How can anyone possibly talk sh-t about your country's capital.

So if you think your country is heading in the wrong direction you should leave it?!

Didn't you guys have a successful revolution? With your attitude nothing would ever change and you'd still be subservient to Britain.

If it's a bit sh*t, what's wrong with saying so.

If I remember my 7th grade American history correctly there was something about freedom of speech. That was a long time ago...could be wrong but I think I remember correctly.

I never mentioned Sydney (coincidentally my home town) so I was in no state of confusion. I sure you had to Google Australia's Capital, and yes it is in Canberra, which is a sterile hell hole that freezes over like hell in winter and hotter than hell in summer. But at least crime rates are lower than DC - substantially!

And for the record, Sydney has parts of the city I would not venture to, nor take friends, but remember I was being guided around DC by an ex resident - to areas which he said were previously OK.

Seldom do you come across someone with such narrow and xenophobic views, where obviously the sun shines out of everyone's asses in DC in your eyes. BE OBJECTIVE MAN..

And once again those poor souls in Arlington cemetery will be turning in their graves, because as soon as someone say's, its getting tough, "then run away" That's the spirit nations are built of! NOT.

America is a great country, with many great assets, people and resources, and then they have people who act like brain dead zombies and believe that anyone who criticizes anything must be subversive or non patriotic and do not have the ability or intelligence to think for themselves. Thank goodness you are only in the minority. Red Necks is the terminology by memory.

Now I am out of this topic, futile trying to preach to the brainwashed.

EDIT - sorry to SP, I am sure this was not your intention when you started the thread. Probably will not last long.

Why would I go all the way to DC, I can walk across the street and rob my neighbor if I wanted to do that, or sell crack out in front of my house, I don't think my sales would set any records and I'd prbly get busted in about an hour, but at least IT'S F'KING CLEAN and gang free you idiot!!! Like I said, you obviously have never been there! I guess you think all those politicians and employees live there too, WRONG, majority have places 30-40 minutes away in Maryland!

Golly-Gee DC ..As someone who is in love with her Country and it's history, Washington is a very special place in my mind. Truly. From its Washington-Jefferson-L'Enfant planning, to this very day, along with the vast treasure trove of bon mots and tragic events, in between, that identify it, I must believe most Americans hold it in a special place in their hearts. But to live there is an abnormal lifestyle by any measurement because of what it is by it's singular nature. It is our #1 city, but by no means our #1 city to live in. ~ SP ~

I have to go to DC between 4 to 6 times a year ... and my boss puts me up in Woodbridge, MD to keep me safe.

DC is okay; although I usually end up either working or as far away from DC as I can get.  I did the tour and bought a few souvenirs.  The tourist spots are pretty cool, but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice for a place of residence.

I think Compton, CA would be safer IMHO, which isn't saying much.

Edinburgh is  sh1tty and the people are miserable buggars.

Unless you are visiting Craigmillar, Niddrie or one of the other housing schemes on the outskirts then I've no idea what you mean by the former.  Litter all over the streets? Ugly buildings?  Lots of crime?  As to the latter maybe you get what you give.

I've always found Edinburgh folk fine when I've gone there, not too numerous among the students and tourists but still.  Perhaps I should develop a west coast bias.

Was I meant to know it was a joke?  Sorry then, and could be worse a couple of miles and it could've been Gourock.
