As in not to play in credit-offered free tourneys.

Played all day and was on a hot streak (for me) so I decided to see what I could do in The First Tee Open.  Shot 6 under and felt pretty good til I got to see the leaderboard.  In my TM tier, I was 232nd place.  Ok I said to self.  Let's check further.

Right at the top, it says I'm in the TM tier score category.  But it also showed that the leader, who shot a 58 was a Legend at Level 71 and who had joined WGT in June...of this year!

    1)  Why is a Legend (and 3 of the top 4 scores are) listed in my tier?  Did they all advance a tier between playing and now?  Did WGT make the error?

    2)  How is it possible to attain L tier in just 2 months?

The answers are meaningless to me.  Just being thrown out there.  Being 232nd is not a blow to my ego or my game.  And I know there are very gifted players, but this has got to be screwy somewhere.  Why should I ever bother to play in another?  I won't.  Period.

This is why I ruminate over people who get flustered that 'high level - lower tier players have an equipment advantage'. (which may have some truth to it, but a lower tier player, generally, averages a higher score by definition)

It seems that, in most all cases that I've observed (especially mine), it is inapplicable.

On the otherhand, I play and enjoy the free entry credit games, monthly and weekly. And some crap-shoot alt-shot games with whom ever stays. No RG's or gamble schemes. CTTH ? one entire month of it, once a year. It is fun for me. One thing that happens and creates quick promotion players is their devotion only to Beth or Andy...over and over and over again. They normally can't break an egg at Merion, Olympic, Oakmont or Congressional. Just play on...everywhere

Thank you for your post, a.

The First Tee Open is supposed to be tier-specific.  Thus, there should be no L's or TL's in the TM leaderboard category.  If they did indeed move up a tier during or since posting a score, I think they should be tier-listed as what they were when they played, not what they are now.

If this were the case, I would not have felt the need to ask the question!.  Maybe everyone but me knew the answer, and I'm the only one to think this way.  ;)

I concur with this attitude. I do enjoy Pinehurst & RSG but I'm always mixing it up, playing all courses.

Once I buy one more piece of equipment I'll look forward paying the green fees to further explore some of my bigger challenges at Cabo & Whistler.

Cabo and Whistler are resort courses. No where near as hard as the US Open courses we play. Heck I've played both courses with starter clubs and ball from the tips and had very nice rounds. Don't wait, just play them. GL ;)

    Always welcome!

It is the same in all tier-based tournaments, starting with the weeklies and monthlies:

Player starts in a tier, player finishes in that tier.

Besides the complications of resorting, it has an aspect of fairness, too. Many tier chances imply a tee change, thus former results of a "moved" player from front tees might be mixed with other players' results from back tees. Not good.

After all, these Tour tournaments are monthly tournaments.

In the Tour, they take care of the tier changes by advancing those players to new leaderboards on promotion, between the tournaments. Today's leader of the Pro section (and many others) will most certainly end up elsewhere.
