In the game client, go to menu then settings. Scroll to the bottom and you can turn it on and off there.

NOT TRUE! I followed this suggestion and there is no option turn putter pal off. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!

Yes there is an option. You can turn the Putter Pal display off.
