The way one gets better clubs is through the pro-shop. The currency there is credits. You can get 100 credits for $1.00 etc. (Except if you buy them with an AmEx card, they have a double credit promotion on right now for the USOpen.) Or you can win credits though the weekly/monthly tournaments.
If you can't hit the fairways and greens in regulation, you are probably playing Bethpage. Should you play Kiawah you will find it much easier and much better for practice.
Upgrading your equipment is your choice.... but the BEST driver for sale is only 15 yards longer than the starter clubs.. and much less forgiving.
