    My view on the situation:

Once a player tees off, then that hole must be completed. If on the tee the player claims their meter is bad (or really whatever reason), the match can begin again at a later time from the point of interruption. Have to figure out who forfeits which holes to get to that same spot, if possible. Then continue with the match.

Since BONALYAU made two different issues,  (1) his meter was jerky and (2) did not think he could win even if meter was okay, puts this into a weird situation.

If BONALYAU quit because meter was jerky, let's continue play at point of interruption or if he can not fix the problem then insert an alternate to takeover at that same point in the match.

If BONALYAU quit because he knew he could not win, then the match stands as a forfeit. Maybe he meant he could not win with a jerky meter, then let's continue the match.

Corwyn and I have been discussing this situation, and we are still trying to determine how to handle it.

Therefore anyone still having a match to play, play it and do your best to win.

    Go USA

    You did beat me!

I just emailed you with my draft post, lol.

But you've hit the nail on the head... Our problem is trying to determine intent.

Edit: Thanks for the update BK. Cerino and I are set to tee off today at 10am WGT time (2 hrs from now)

BK 4up thru 6 and playing lights out. That coupled with my mediocre play and things are not looking good for ROW

    BK 3up at the turn

BK 5 up with 6 to play, Russ's match may not matter

    Corwyn:
I just emailed you with my draft post, lol.

Here's the forum post I drafted before seeing Russ' reply::

"Well, the official position is that the game was forfeit. Had Bonalyau claimed meter issues before or at the beginning of the match, then it would have been reasonable for ROW to request an alternate, but abandoning after 7 holes means that it is clearly a done deal (as Eric states in his edit; so the point is Team USA's as soon as they want to claim the match).

However, Russ and I have been talking about the factors, not least that he deserves the chance to finish a Singles game, and to be honest, I'd rather the competition closed with a 'clean' record of all matches played to a finish. As Rock says, we don't need unnecessary controversy.

A couple of days have passed now, and there's been no further communication from Jean. It's clear to me that Bonalyau does not intend to take up Russ's offer to resume from where they left off.

Russ does want to play a real match if it can work and has asked for us to provide an alternate, but he also acknowledges that it's an awkward situation were the game to actually matter.

Since none of our alternates overlap with Russ' weekday availability anyway, this match could only happen at the weekend, by which time it may be a dead rubber (which I guess would make things simpler, lol).

So, it's not an ideal situation by any means, but that's where we're at..."

Russ has since written me to say:

"I would like to play the match. Got a kick out of LOLservers response since he would probably be the alternate to continue the match....

... If my match with BONALYAU is the deciding point, then I will play the match to completion with BONALYAU or an alternate just so there is no doubt about my intent after the fact."

Not meant to be. Sorry guys.

BK played an epic round. So incredibly consistent and well played.

I just couldn't find any type of a groove and gave away holes i shouldn't have early to keep it closer and every time I came up with something BK had an answer

    CONGRATS to Team USA!!
