That hole is killing my CTTH rounds on Congressional (50+ points on it every time). I've tried a little of everything. Is there some way to get within 15-20 ft (not even wanting inside 10). Any help will much appreciated :-)

You talk about that neat 27 yds pitch from 20% rough on #17, down that severe ridge? (similar shot available in the putting CTTH)

Apparently I've never played this before, and a shortish pitch with bs brought me to 33, less bs might be a clue. Or perhaps a flop might serve well?

Edit: A 26 yds flop rolled 20 ft past the hole ;)

If its this one, a punch with full bspin using my 50yd cleve will get me within 5ft more times than not, just have to adjust strength for wind. Not sure about the ping that you use though Jay, you'll never get the spin with that.

Thanks Alosso. Yes, that's the hole. Your flop got closer than mine, but I'll take 20ft :-)

Thanks Ade. I have all of the Cleveland wedges, too. I used them when I played, BUT, haven't tried the punch shot, yet. Thanks for the tip. I'll get into the top 10 now :-). Might take a couple of times, but that's the problem hole for me on that ctth.

This is even more difficult than in the putting version. You'd have to just let the ball trickle down the ridge, and it still tends to roll way past it. 5 feet are a good result for me while putting!

The only perfect solution may be to hole the shot ;)

I never putt from off the green, but was wondering if the flag stays put if you putt from fringe, and not green.

Plus, because it's Congo, with it's ball-magnet lakes/ponds, I use the starter balls. I'll get it right, and report back. It may be weeks, but I will get it.......close :-)

I was referencing a putt in the putting CTTH, certainly not from any %% rough!

And yes, the pin stays in during any shot from off the green unless you take care of it. This includes putting (from the fringe, usually). Unfortunately, nobody can tell from a replay if the flag was pulled or not.

Yes, I knew that. I was using the putt reference to ask the question about the flag.
