Do people REALLY believe there is some "master plan" by WGT to relieve them of balls?
WGT can't even get the basic game play right! Their programmers are struggling with coding problems day in, day out. (Invites, dot speeds, green speeds etc to name just a few of the recent ones)
To imagine that WGT's programmers have the finesse to write complex code that makes players lose expensive balls after a few strokes, or make certain putts somehow harder to hit than others is just unimaginable.
What is far more likely, IMHO, is that we all get a tad more nervy hitting the birdie putt than we do hitting the usually much shorter par putt, and that is the reason we "appear" to fail more often; likewise with the shot along the tree line, or over the water with a new ball.
No, WGT may be responsible for a lot of things in this game, but being that clever just ain't one of them ;-)
