Newbie possibly annoying question!

  Hi folks, good to be amongst you. 

  I've recently discovered WGT and am thoroughly enjoying superb gameplay, great graphics and all the proper equipment / apparel licenses which make games like this so much more authentic. 

  My quick question is though...am I missing something in regards to my swing?

  Eg: If i'm on the fairway, with no little or no wind and am attempting a simple 150yarder to the flag...why is the ball only going half or 2/3 of the distance?

  Obviously i'm ensuring the slider is going the required distance and i'm using the required club...but on odd occasions am getting nowhere near the distance. 

  I'm just wondering if there is an element of 'swing speed' or 'time to react to the shot' etc etc?

  Any thoughts / opinions etc all welcome.

  The meter scale isn't linear. Half way down won't give you half distance. You'll have to play some shots and take notes to work out the amount of the meter to use.

  You are using the free Starter clubs which have only low characteristics. You will see severe shortage when playing uphill due to the low trajectory of these clubs. They also need substantial allowance for roll - important when playing over hazards.

  Usually, on flat surface, they should go for the indicated length - use backspin to enhance this, but don't expect much stopping action.

  When advancing in Levels, you may buy licences for better clubs - be selective to avoid too high expenses.

  Thanks for both of these replies guys, much appreciated. 

  It's given me way more questions but I think fundamentally the best way is to imagine i'm actually out on course. 

  If I play the same shot (same lie, power, stance etc) with a £12 7-Iron from a discount superstore...and again with a £100 Mizuno 7-Iron..."in theory" the latter should produce a better result. 

  That's how i'm visualising it anyway!

  Yep. When in the pro shop notice the figures for 'forgiveness' and 'precision.' Forgiveness lets you get away a bit with missing the ding. Precision (is supposed to) lessen the built in variance that the game has. This last is referred to as VEM on these boards. 

  What does VEM stand for? Many theories. 

  Very Enraging Madness is my personal fave.

  A far-fetched thought comes to my mind in milliseconds:

  There might be no two "same shots" in this game.
