    PBaldwin:

My issue is wasting time and balls trying to perfect these irons and then having to do the same all over again.

I was going to say it will take ages to get from L93 to L97 so the time wouldn't really be wasted but seeing how many rounds you're playing lately makes me think you may get there quicker than most.

Even so, it's going to be quite a while before you can get the Nike irons, a few hours spent really getting to know the R11 wouldn't be wasted.  The 100 balls may be though, unless credits are not an issue.

I'm assuming you're referring to getting the Nikes when the time comes. I've seen a number of players go to the lower level Nikes in preparation for getting the higher level ones. You only lose 5 yards on the distances and .5 dot on the spin and the meter's slower. Playing with them until you get high enough will make the transition very easy.

I suggested to them before that they should reallign some equipment so that there is something at every level. I think it would increase sales.

    + yes,

Haven't bought a club since L90, would've bought the R1 @ L93 but am so used to this one now after having it so long that I won't be buying the R1 next level.

I have the Nike 97s but I use my Nike 85 more often.

The meter is slower and if I move back to the longer tees I may use the 97s w/ a nice ball, but for now it's usually the 85s w/ the Cally 37 or 61.

bhoese tests of the Nike 85s showed great results, 'even better than the 97' but it was only 20 shots and things might be different as you match different ball types.

Yea I've tried to get them dialed in over the last 3 levels.  I've gotten them mostly good, it's just I'm a little nuts and am never happy.  I've shot 2 25's in the last week and have been playing fairly well, but I still have too many shots I'm not happy with and have to sink some putts to make up for it.  I would definitely not want to learn the level 85 Nike's as they're not going to play identical to the 97's and I have so much time into the R11's as it is.

Credits I'm not too worried about.  I seem to make enough in brackets to pay for boost, balls, and earn some extra which I've been using to fund working on these R11's and the Clevelands I just bought a week or 2 ago.  I would like to get back into ready goes, but right now I seem to make more in brackets as that's the fastest profit for my current game.

By using those R11's with that logic I think you're setting yourself up for a harder game. You're using the top Nike ball with the fast meter R11's. How many of those shots you're not happy with happened because you missed the ding? Missing the ding with that premium ball is going to hurt more than it would with a lesser ball and it's not hard to miss the ding with the speed of those irons.

You have a ways to go to get the top Nikes and when you do get them you're going to have to learn them anyway. Switching to the lower Nikes gives you a head start PLUS the meter is slower.  Your 3-4 and 5 irons are the best clubs in that R11 set-they give you the control you need for the longer approaches. The Nike set applies what those irons do to the rest of the set-the 6-PW. The PW acts like a CG!

IMO, if you were to switch to a lesser ball and those Nikes you'd probably see those troublesome shots lessen. Maybe the next free rental weekend you could give it a try. GL.

How about a special on one of those top items ??

I am looking at players in ready go's and they are all 5-6 levels above me.

    not making it easy !

I think that I could be closer to nr 1,if I had a 10 yard longer driver !

I don't care about the 96 versa , too fast for my taste !

r1 as a holiday special at halloween !

How about RG's that were level specific? That might be a decent compromise and spread the RG credits around. Have tournaments with a level cap on them.

Best idea I have heard in a long time !!

I am tired of stretching my irons !  It is not good for my back ;)

Sorry to butt in on a private conversation...

YankeeJim - I bought the 97's but found they had too much spin and from the R11's, distances were a lot different. Didn't fancy 'relearning' every course so stayed with the R11's. However, I do have meter speed issues so - does a lower level ball compensate for the extra spin I get with the highest level nike balls when using 97's?Or is it just a case of 'it's worth relearning the distances with the 97's'?

Of course, I could go and try it and find out for myself but interested in your experience.

Cheers mate - appreciate any advice.

    Steve
