Giving the L97 BB 3wd a try, just finished a 9 hole round at Merion. It's a cannon for sure, easily reached #2 and used it off the tee at #3 and #8. Totally unrelated, but managed to birdie 5 and 6, a rare experience indeed...front pin on #5, back pin on #6, and had fairly easy putts of less than 5 ft on each.
Back to the 3wd...I suppose the trade-off for the extra distance is trajectory, and so far I prefer the higher trajectory of the lower level club. But, I can see situations and courses where the extra distance/lower traj would be advantageous.
Still on the fence, but grateful for the opportunity to try it out.
