Olympic is much more fun in UEL than Pinehurst is.

You have an unusual definition of fun ;)

I think Olympic is considerably more challenging, but fun.....really.....lol

Pretty much anything beats Pinehurst. At least all the holes on Olympic play to their stated lengths.

In this month's Virtual Tour event at PH, I was -9 through 15 needing two birdies to be in a decent place on the Legend leaderboard. My approach on 16 was 8 yards short, on 17 was 5 yards short (still makeable), and on 18 was 8 yards short and came all the way back down the hill. That kind of distance miss doesn't happen anywhere but Pinehurst for me.

Yep, I understand how Pinehurst can be frustrating, I've played it too....lol

UEL Olympic gives you a real challenge with side hill shots, but for me some of the side hill shots require more adjustment (length and lateral) than other holes, which challenges my memory since I haven't taken any notes. For example Hole #1 I always add 5-10 yards additional distance and about 10 yards additional adjustment left on the approach shot than I think should be required.

    Indeed, very unlucky.

My worst hole was my own fault, I found putting on the 3rd was so much fun that I stayed for four : (

Once again, apologies for my incredible busy-ness right now. I've not been able to spend nearly enough time here!

Here's a quick update on the state of the Fall Tour standings, catching up with last week's Cabo event... and I hope to add a round-up of the Merion event tomorrow.

At Cabo in wk46, in the TL tier, johehejo shot a fantastic -17 55 to win this week, his first win in this Tour (to complement his friend and playing partner in the Ryder Cup Marc, FairwayRuepel who has had a great start to the tour). There were no fewer than 10 sub-60 rounds in TL tier, making it fierce competition indeed!

In Legend tier, where we're dealing with Mod wind compared to TL's Low wind, but with Tourney greens instead of Champs, OleFernando posted an excellent 60 to win.

We're now at the halfway point of the tour, and it's time to look at Ryder Cup qualification for those that are interested in playing in the next UEL Ryder Cup event, to be held at Olympic in mid-late January.

Please look out for a new thread in the community events forum in the next few days, where we'll track who's vying for places on the US and ROW teams. I've added tabs in the spreadsheet for Team USA and Team ROW, but please note that these possible line-ups are speculative, as we don't know who else might put themselves forward (and there are some assumptions involved, e.g. that former RC players would wish to qualify again).

    ------------------

To see all the details view the spreadsheet, but for those who can't access the new Google Sheets, here are some snapshots of some of the Standings sheets here in the thread (note that they're only the top 35+ places, just what fits on my screen).

Click here to see the full google doc spreadsheet; once in the sheet, navigate via tabs at the bottom.

Right-click, open in new Tab, to see these images full-size

    Nice work Cor...

Noticed alot of L80s are good at UELs, goes to show if you 'grow up' with something, it makes it easier ?

I know I found it was hard to change the mindset, going from scoring 13+ under a round to just 1 or 2  in the beginning.

If you're reading this and not yet tried UELs, then give it a go....can be frustrating, intimidating, discombobulating but usually FUN !!

Edit::: sweet 60 on Merion btw..n shooting !

Thanks for the "snapshots" Corwyn. I'm one of the ones who needs them to keep track.

Like Andy said, the "60" on Merion was superb.

Speaking of "Legends". How does a Legend get to compete in a tournament in Tour Pro bracket? His profile shows him as a Legend with a 71.something average, but he is leading the Tour Pro bracket on Pinehurst by 3 strokes with a 58. Something wrong there. How am I with my 68.46 average supposed to compete with  that, and from his record he beats everyone he plays. Put him in the bracket he belongs in. It does nothing to encourage  people to want to play when they know they have no chance because a sand bagger is put in their bracket. Someone at WGT should check this out and straighten it out. Just look at the leaderboard for the Tour Pro bracket and you will see the leader, then all you have to do is check his profile. Let's keep it fair or not have brackets at all, and you can go to the USGA handicap and course slope systems. This happens in every tournament that I play in, and I and probably the majority of folks that enter have no chance of ever winning anything. I will quit playing tournaments and compete against the courses I play, at least I have a chance to beat them occasionally. This is nothing against you mmyers, just venting my spleen. This is all for WGT if they read it.
