I'm new to WGT. I've enjoyed it so far, and have made it to Lvl30 Pro (a bit quickly, I'm thinking). I'm finding hitting off the Pro tees to stretch the abilities of my starter set of clubs. I've read the advice on these forums and the consensus seems to be to stick with the starter putter and irons until I can get truly good versions (like the Ghost Spyder and the R11 set at least). I've bought an R11 3WD (those free credits were burning a hole in my pocket) and I'm using that off the tee as well. I like it. I was afraid of the meter speed, but I'm getting the hang of hitting closer to the ding.

So, it seems that a couple of good wedges would be the next upgrade. I'm thinking that since they are all the same meter speed (except the Snake Eyes), it's about spin and forgiveness. I don't really know what Precision and Forgiveness mean (although I've read the descriptions of these in the FAQ). I'm not sure which is more important, but it seems that forgiveness might be, for a beginner like me.

I see that the Lvl 7 and 8 Cleveland 60 and 64 degree wedges have almost as much spin as the Lvl 30ish versions, which are very similar to the ATVs. The forgiveness is higher, though. The Pings have lower precision and spin.

I'm wondering why not buy the lower level Clevelands for the extra forgiveness with only a slight sacrifice in spin? I realize they are expensive (but so are the ATVs). I can be talked into anything at this point, since I know almost nothing. Perhaps the 18+ Pings are better, but they have less spin and precision. The advantage of the ATVs (which I'd have to wait several more levels to get) is the perhaps better yardage spread (beginning at 50).

Hi buddy!

Well to be honest, my best advise is to wait!!! Save up those credits for a time and wait until you level up a bit more. Sounds as if you are moving up nicely which is great, but I'd still advise you to be patient and shoot for a really nice set of club that your can first afford and second grow into!

If you like and are a really serious player and intend to stick with this game we all love, then perhaps you'd like to join a country club in which you can learn and grow as both a player and a person! Griphos you've made possibly the best investment in this god forsaken game by finding the forums.

I joined in 2009 , fair enough I had a 2 year break, but wish I'd found the forums and game 6 months ago, would of saved unknown amounts of upgrades and time getting to where I am at today ( and still suffering)

stay with the free gear for as long as possible, you mention maybe levelling up too quickly, CORRECT, the game is now designed that way i'm afraid.

Take what was given for free and use it to the max, learn the game and then every saved for, from the free offerings will be a blessing and in the meantime your learning the game and should never be disappointed ;-)

It takes very little time to get from 30 to 50 , I do think the lvl 7-8 cleves sound nice, but wait until the next ones. and you will have them until the 80 levels come around,

Don't make the mistake I did and buy everything that comes at the next level.

Think yardage gaps when you set up your wedges. Start with a 64W (absolute must-have) and work towards your set PW. Make the gaps as even as possible and learn the in between shots like the punch. Those Level 31 CGs will last you a very long time and IMO would make an immediate impact on your game.

A good alternative to that for a while could be the Level 8 64W and the Level 7 60W and those, too, will definitely have a good impact on your game. GL :-)
