The degrees, 60, 64, don't say a thing. The yardage is important for good shots from various distances. Comparing the clubs you will see that these two items differ widely.

    What do you mean?

Talking about lvl 7-8 Cleves, there ain't no 64° wedge nor 60 yds distance.

    It's a 60°, 70 yds wedge + a 100 yds wedge. These are pretty worthless IMHO.

My bad - I overlooked the latter clubs of this set.

    From 60 - 70 - 85 - 100 yds, there should be some choice possible.

    Higher level Cleveland: 60 - (80) - 100 - even worse.

this is so false its more like 60-80-100 then the punch comes into play 50-68-84 so imo the best wedge set

I thought of fitting the 70 yd club into the 60 - 100 sequence...

Had to clean my glasses though to correct my error.

Thanks for the input guys.  Alosso, it's your posts on other threads that first got me thinking about wedges in terms of distances.  I'm thinking that the L29 60d Cleveland will be my next purchase.  It's rated for 75 yards.  My starter iron set has a PW rated at 90.  I've got my eye on the Ping I25s, and the PW in that set is rated at 105.  When I get it, a 56d Cleveland rated at 90 should complete the set, right?  That's a good gap, I think...15 yds between clubs.

I liked the Cleveland 64d wedge I tried last night.  Good feel to it.  I didn't seem to be able to get much spin on either the standard or the 10 credit WGT spin balls, but I was chipping and flopping with it around the hole, not making full shots.

Also, it seems to go quite a few yards longer than rating in those kind of shots.  A little bit of an issue until I learn what it will actually do.  I'm sure green speed has something to do with that in chip shots.  Anyway, I need to play with it more.  Tonight, I think I'll just set up a practice round where I do nothing but use it from the tee and see what it does.  That won't hurt my rating, right?

It ain't how good you are, it's how good you are at fixing the mistakes.  ;-)

    Why are these preferable, specifically?
