How unusual for WGT to start something that disadvantages the Eastern hemisphere. :-(
I'm not sure they actually did Courteney. With 4 small matches within the 24 hour overall time period there's always going to be some who miss rounds, regardless of where in the world they live.
You're right about a lot of angry people though, sure are plenty of those around. I'm not angry, just disappointed they have gone for such an obviously credit grabbing way of running it. The club that buys the most passes wins, simple as that.
Even if a club with 200 members is up against one with 40 members the small club can still win if all those members buy lots of passes. Assume all 200 members in the big club play, using free passes, that's a maximum of 400 scored rounds.
If the small club is full of people with deep pockets and they each buy 10 passes, plus one free one to start them off then they have a potential 440 scored rounds.
Obviously this is a pretty extreme example but it doesn't change the fact that the club that spends the most credits will probably win.
My suggestion would be to keep it unlimited play but limit the number of rounds that count to a set number, perhaps 50. And only one or two scores can count from each club member. That way the smaller clubs may stand a chance without going bankrupt. The only benefit you get from buying a pass and trying again is you may improve your score, you may also not. That way a risk is involved, as it is now you are guaranteed to increase your club's total.
Just my 17 cents worth.
