1yes1no: Real Golfers understand that Golf relies on integrity. Gamers don't seem to want to know that word. Therein lies the crux of the problem.
Big difference is, on the real courses, each player is his/her own referee and has to take this responsibility as a Gentleman or Lady. Golfers are conditioned to act like this, though quite a few do not follow.
In this game, in this virtual, programmed environment, things are different. We may expect that the program sets and enforces the rules. Usually, I play and think,
"What is not forbidden is allowed", taking benefit from rough lies declared as "Fairway" and shots from the water which miraculously are dry, without a thought. This is the rub of the green.
Now, this event exposed mighty loopholes, and with all the hype created for a
"4,000 $" prize it's no wonder that these loopholes be used - another rub of the green. And the accountants laugh until it hurts!
IMHO, it's only the company to blame for everything that happened during the event, their poor programming and QA turned the event into a laugh, and the winning CC certainly deserve first place in making a mockery out of it. The anti-exploit clause in the T&Cs means nothing to me, it's only meant to protect themselves against "undue" financial losses due to their own failures.
We may get moral over the handling of the putter, but that's a different story.
