Putting Yard - Feet

  How come if your just off the green in the fringe or fairway and you choose to putt does it not change the distance from yards to feet? And why is it completely inaccurate?

  If I am 20 feet a way and change from a wedge to a putter why does it still it show it in yards?

  And when I go to putt it (in yards) I go to 6 yards in power and it blows by the hole. 6 x 3 is 18, it shouldn't go 12 feet passed the hole.

  The putting / pitch / chip & flop grids are made of 2ft squares if that's any help.

  It's programmed that way, that's why.

  fringe should give you feet scales w/ the putter,
  as to fairway, it wasn't designed with putting in mind.

  Take it as a good hint as to choose not to putt, a pitch with good wedges will hole those shots better than putting from fringe or fairway.

  Which answer do you expect here, to a "why" question?

  The units may change from feet to yds (!) through longer replay shots as I have seen before.

  One would think if your 10 yards off the green it would be a 30 foot putt but that doesn't apply here. All I am saying is if it wants to be a realistic game you need to have realistic choices with realistic measurements. Tom Watson in the major he nearly won putt from 10 yards off the green. Most tour players do.
