Master lvl 87 with a decent set of clubs (G20's, ping wedges, Rossa putter)

I think I can hold off upgrading my clubs until around level 90 but can't seem to figure out what to buy.

A few thingsof note: I will have about 6 -7 k in credits so my funds are sligthly limited, I want to compete with Legends eventually, I have a fundamtal problem spending a ton on balls (I play GI2's)

I'm leaning towards SLDR driver, bertha 3 wood, versa putter, clevland wedges and have no idea what irons would be best.... or should I wait longer (lvl 94???) to get the best in the game.... if so what is the best?

Any advise would be very appreciated.

IMHO, wait for the L90 R11s, - they are about as good as you can get until you make L97 and can get the Nike VR Forged set.

The rest of your choices look pretty sound to me.

    Steve,

thank you for getting back to me....

I was a little worried about the meter speed of the R11's if getting those irons should I jus buy the complete set? then upgrade to Nike's at lvl 97?

And would you recommend the ATV's over the Clevelands?

Hi, I am also considering similar equipment changes coming up. My view at this point is to try and maintain an overall consistency in club speed at some expense in performance.  The R11's look very attractive and I have read lots of good things, but I am not crazy about the difference in club speed compared to what I have (similar to yours). And, like you, I have matching speeds for my driver and 3 wood.

I decided to buy the 1st available ATV wedge (56) after trying it on a free rental weekend.  I was happy with it's behavior (very steady with a little less backspin than the Cleveland) and... it matches my other club speeds. I expect to pick up the 60 deg ATV also on my next level up.  As for the 64... well, the strong backspin for better scrambling on the Cleveland might trump the slightly faster meter speed: the distances involved are more forgiving for missed dings.  BUT I will strongly consider the ATV 64 in order to have equal club speed across the board, which I believe helps with my timing on the long distance clubs (200+ yds) where getting close to the ding is crucial.  BTW I would recommend sacrificing your hybrid for an extra wedge to boost your approach game.

I am very happy with the SDLR and will compare with Big Bertha driver coming up before buying. I will likely upgrade to the BB 3 wood as well, we'll see.  By the time I am considering the 97 level Nike iron set I hope to be comfortable enough with my rhythm that the performance advantage will trump a .5 change in meter speed.  Again, we'll see.

Best of luck in your choices and enjoy!

    -Keith

Edit:  another consideration when looking at equipment at this level is a good matching golf ball.  I am not familiar with what you are using, but an upgrade to your ball might be needed to enjoy the advantages/performance of new clubs you are considering.

like most things keidan im sure after so many rds.even if your clubs did have different meter speeds you would eventually adapt and play well regardless, just would take some time.

Off master  tier  tees you are already armed to the teeth IMO.

Three wedges may be considered, but off master tees hardly that important and (trying think back) maybe that hybrid is still just about useful for some long par 3s??

You are now in a good CC to get lots of game advice, and IMO you would be better served saving your credits until Legend.  Have a rethink when at the tips.

    4 what it's worth!

Stay with the high end Cleveland's!  The ATV's while nice, simply do not compare in the long run.  Also, the R11's meter is simply to fast for many players to hit consistently (me included)!  Try the higher end V Forged, or the slow meter Max Irons and don't forget the ball you play makes drastic effect.  In short, longer is not always better, control, spin and accuracy, coupled with forgiveness will prevail in the end!!!
