Dear All,
Must have tried to post something not agreeable to WGT moderators, as last post does not seem to appear. Its most probably because I made too much of the VEM issue while moaning on as usual, anyway can someone out there explain why a Taylormade driver averaging 275yds can drive up to 350yds plus with strong tail wind, and Taylormade driver averaging 282yds can't reach 320 with same tail wind, and yes I'm the mug who changed drivers to improve my game but have actually made it far worse.
Firstly and slightly off topic, I think that too much is blamed on VEM, whereas often these issues lie squarely on the players own inabilities, not manipulation. Put simply, some players would not recognise VEM if it bit them in the ass - and I am not pointing fingers at anyone.
As explained there are several factors that will change how far the ball can be driven, including but not limited to, type of spin applied, where the ball lands, the course, the slope, the trajectory, the wind direction and of course the club.
Usually, like the real game, you will seldom get the same conditions twice, nor will you land in the same spot, but experience will teach you which holes will give you more distance with back spin, no spin and where to aim for. Replicate this and you are on a winner.
Good luck.
