I have a crappy laptop so I put 'background loading' to OFF.

That usually keeps the meter more smooth during my putting.

If you have a good computer w/ nice RAM etc. you could leave it on. The next hole loads during the scorecard then, I believe.

I have everything on default  (flash quality - high)

    except

all hole in one challenges  - off

putter pal , shot pal,, whatever pal - off

I turn my putting grid ON

    Surveys and offers - off

    Lessons - off

If you are experiencing lag, try turning off - reflections as well

Audio is personal (most of mine are backed right off), apart from "invitation alerts" - off - this will help your meter.

Background loading i have - ON , i beleive it helps a smoother meter. Try it on or off see how you go
    Avatar angles i have ON

For the most part I turn game options off.

    Game Settings

Display Hole In One Challenges - NO

    Ball Speed Boost - None

Use Ball Speed Boost On Green - NO

    Flash Quality - HIGH

Show WGT Lessons Button - OFF

    Distance Markers - OFF

    Aerial Multi-Cam - ON

    Aim Arc - OFF/ON (I use OFF)

    Camera Pans - OFF/ON (I use OFF)

    Reflections - OFF

    Putting Grid - OFF

    Hole Info Display - OFF

    Ball Trails (Replay) - ON

    Flag Animation - OFF

End of Game Messages - ON or OFF

Putter Pal Display - ON if you have it. OFF if you don't have it or don't want to use it.

Shot Pal Display - ON if you have it. OFF if you don't have it or don't want to use it.

This is what was posted recently in a related matter:

    WGTyphoon:

Hello. A good suggestion was clearing your cache. You can additionally try the following steps to assist with your swing meter.

    - Close other programs, browser windows and browser tabs

    - Have the wgt.com website open but minimized and not displayed

    - Play WGT in the original window size, do not maximize it to full screen

    - Turn off Reflections, Flag Animation, Background Loading, Avatar rotations, and WGT Lessons in your Options

Hopefully this will assist you with your issue.

The background loading wording in the game client is interesting, and what Typhoon is stating here is that with it OFF it may help the meter.

I find having flash setting on medium slightly slows the meter and is a lot smoother.

Different settings for different people as well due to pc's being used. Experiment with different settings to see what works best for you. The suggestions being posted here are a fantastic starting point.

Something that quite often gets overlooked is when players hit the Play Now button and are taken to the game they don't close that window with the Play Now button-it sits open in the background. This plays hell with the meter. Close that main window and it helps a lot.

I just load GameClient in its own window.  Easy to do.

My only issue is that I run the main page on IE and client on Chrome.  If I join a tourney or hit "play now", it loads in IE instead of Chrome.  Therefore, I have to let it load in IE a couple seconds, close out the window, and link the GC in Chrome and let it pick back up.

    Mildly annoying, but worth it.

Even easier if you have a dedicated browser with the home page set to the game client. Join your tournaments from there.
