    notcold:

I have the level 19 Taylormade  Spider.  Been with it for a good long while, 2 years.
I think I'm a fairly good putter but regularly 2 putt holes missing the cup by inches.  So think a putter with a little more precision can knock 5 to 10 strokes off my scores.  Have rented both and they seem very similar.  What Say You?

Get the versa its the better putter and level 96 is a good way off . The versa plays very well for either style of putting . If you miss the ding it plays great and if you play the ding when putting its still great . I just upgraded to the 96 versa only because I had the credits and wanted something to buy . But the 70+ Versa could really be the last putter you really would need to buy .

This is a paramount point. It is a switch-hitter and most all of the very best putters here use a combination of both in the same putt. Also to add here is that because of your 2 years of play with the L-19 Spider, with it's 25-50-100 scale, you will most certainly experience small issues going to the 15-30-60-100 of the Versa, but it will only last about a week...if that.

I upgraded to 96 over 70, and I'm glad I did.  I think 70 would be a slightly better putter for ding-putters, but for miss-dingers like myself the 96 does more of what it should, without any additional self-correcting mechanisms kicking in.  I like my women putters better when they do as I tell them to do.

Really appreciate all your thoughtful input.  I guess all the smart and gracious folks enjoy discussing putting.

Seriously, I do appreciate each of you for taking the time.  I am going to try the Versa based on my putting style.  I am a ding putter.  I am also pretty good at placing long putts and chips within a good 10' of the hole for Birdie chances and Par savers.  So I believe a more precise putter will at least take me up a notch in play from where I seem to be temporarily plateaued.

    Thank you  all.

    The 97 Versa

     The good news is, it is at L-96 not L-97 --- You can get it many months earlier ;-}

same same but different, those levels are more than a year away from lvl 91 :(

It's not a year from L91 to L97. Probably closer to 6-8 months

Simply place well in the RGs and other tournaments and you will move up MUCH faster

how do you figure that out ?

I don't get extra points for doing well in RGs ?? or did I miss something here ?

I am at 900.000 points and need another 690.000 to get to lvl 97

that is about 10 months for me.

The L19 spider is not a great putter and the L71 is.  The advice on balance / precision I concur with fwiw.

EDIT: you def. do not want the L92 ding or bust using the starter rock though IMO.  Great putter, but especially not suited to the starter rock that's all.

Personally though I would look at why I am not close with my approaches often enough.  I would consider a better ball (still cheap) than the starter rock if possible (assuming the rock ball is what you often use - never checked much).  Then I would roughly map those irons / new ball combo (low cross wind Beth 10, 11, 12).  Once that is under control and my short wedge shots are bango (see forums) I would think again then.

Well, I started the year at L91. Am now midway through L96, despite taking 2 and a half months off and in my first month back, not playing every day. Lets say I was away for 3 months. I'm a month away from L97 (been L96 for about a month).

Perhaps 9 months it has taken me. Of course, I did buy a few level up boosts along the way, which slightly sped things up. Also, shouldn't take as long now due to the CC bonus XP points that are now awarded
