Mainge2112:Does the pin placement EVER move??
In a better mood now so a better answer :)
As pointed out, most courses have two pin positions. However as these courses are made up of hundreds of thousands of photos of the course and greens, they are somewhat limited in how many positions they have.
The earliest course Kiawah, was shot with one pin in mind, then they added a second using what they had leftover - hence why you get some appalling views of the putt.
Some say perhaps the later courses were shot with 3 placements....but if so, they have not been implemented.
To liken this to some other games is not advisable - some of those other games were far inferior in terms of realism.
As for the ball - One Ball Rule is used on here and WGT has said this is unlikely to change. Why in a practice round a ball cannot be substituted is beyond me.
