I really don't understand why WGT haven't changed anything from the original concept. They were panned after the first Clash, then asked for feedback, which they got in spades. Then they just kept it all the same for the 2nd, the 3rd and now the 4th. Just crazy.

There were a couple of changes made for this clash, leaderboard will still be up after it ends unlike last ones where it disappeared.  They are also looking at making changes for ones after the new year.

    1. Some level of skill involved?

    2. Something to address the disparity of CC size?

    3. Others?

They are going to try and address both 1 and 2.  The CC Size issue is a little harder to tackle.

    Great!

Easiest way would be some sort of proration. I can hear the big clubs already. "Then there's no advantage to being big!"

Uh. Yeah. That's pretty much the point.

Could make the proration along the lines of a USGA handicap. 96%, or so. that way the big guys would still have a little advantage.

The size issue could be fixed rather quickly I would think. You could set up clashes for clubs from 1-50, 51-100... and so on.. Of course that would mean 4 or 5 golden putters to award..

Both points could be addressed simply by taking the average score of all the players who enter, whether they play 20 rounds each or just one, and match it up against the, say, 125 players who play ten rounds each.

Then it isn't just a case of amassing a points total, but the skill factor comes into play.

Having to purchase CC passes is a big turn off. Yes, I know one has free passes and superpasses, but u ain't going to win nowt as it stands now, just relying on free passes.

Oneeye that would kill the cc clash idea of buying passes !

That is what this is all about !

Same goes for gift balls after a match.

I don't see any way forward with this model - being polite.

WGT need to, IMO, work on real competitions as discussed ad infinitum elsewhere.

If there does prove to an ongoing market (small I would think but profit all the way) for a quickly rustled up and low cost to WGT league table count of who bought the most passes for a snowman tee, then it can stay as part of the choice on the joke is on you shelf.

No clue how much more effort / cost getting something more suitable going would be, but I hope they do.

No issue is particularly hard to address but if the issues are addressed it will limit pass sales.

It is purely about maximising sales IMO.

The clashes are not going away, so players should accept them for what they are (I have given my thoughts on them in the past - a scam) and either choose to play them, or not play them.

They will tinker with them, but I for one will never play one again.

They could have been a great success with twice as much participation, but the greed and bloodymindedness of the company has put me off.

WGT can keep their gnomes, dogs, snowmen, ponies and golden putters (that attributes are clearly an out and out lie) and shove it up where it hurts.

I eqaute this to a Ponzi scam where you rely on the gullible that cannot see the forest for the trees.

    Quite brilliant........
