Well...it wasn't pretty. I have been avrg around par or so my last few rounds. I shot bogey golf in the tournament..this was on St. Andrews. I expected the quicker greens and strong winds. What I didn't expect was the following.

-chiping: why is it differant in tournaments? I can't tell you how many chips I hit that went 1 foot...over and over.

-distance of puts: again, I know the greens are faster. But what good does it do to say the putt is 10 foot and the strenght reading is 20(level ground), and u take club back half way and put goes by 8 feet etc?? This happen many times.

-Hitting balls slightly off center: if you do, they go out of line far more. I even had one that hit from a good lie in the light fescue go straight right and OB...shots that before would have been no issues.

-sand traps: why do they play different? I couldn't get out it seems. Hitting it just like I always have no with issues didn't work.

Any thoughts folks on what happen? Would like to play more tournament golf but not if it is going to play like that.

    -Don

If I am correct to assume you got to pro tier by playing ranked rounds then tourneys shouldn't be that different. At St Andrews there are always monstrous winds. The greens shouldn't be that much faster (you should be playing on the same speed as ranked rounds). And as for the chipping and sand shots - they play pretty much the same for me atleast. Chips always seem to stick on the fringes if played from the rough - so a pitch/flop is usually a better option. The lie and position in bunkers differs a lot - so the strenght of shot played should be different.
