    SweetiePie:

As a fast playing, feel playing, confirmed wind hating lazy bones, I would select my L-97 Nike, 120 yd PW, put it in punch @103yd, apply top spin on my Nike Plat ball, put the aimer in the middle/right green and pull the trigger.

    Hehe,

SweetiePie I hear you. Sometimes this game is too much effort for my brain.  A 103 yd punch with top-spin would be an exciting shot.  I would be to scared of the possible outcome due to lack of distance control / rollout - unless I was just farting around.

I am a "Woody Allen" type player - neurotic, timid, doubting, and contriving.

You are a "John Wayne" type player - bold, fearless, and unencumbered. :-]

andyson, I never saw your post from years ago.  That is almost spooky the similarities of the pictures.  Thanks for your input.

Thank you all for posting and Happy Holidays.

Don't be. That PW punch is a great shot to know and is very easy to trust. The reason I wouldn't use it in the example is because that pin has a slope in front of it that a PW punch isn't going to roll through, even with top spin in that wind. The wind knocks it down and you might get 103-104 out of it. Still not a bad shot with a leave like that under the pin.

    YankeeJim,

I am sure you are right.  It's just that a 103 punch can be such a dynamic shot between full back spin and full top spin not to mention with winds & elevations and such.  A lot of mapping to do with that punch around greens under all scenarios for me.  I guess I figured the 56 wedge & PW have it covered already.  I should learn it, the 103 punch, as it can only add to the tool kit.
