jakestanfill7:74.2% greens hit isn't terrible but not fantastic by any means. One big problem is that you avg 21 ft from pin on approach.
...Listen to Jake...he knows more than you about the subject.
longball2006:I suck at putting because the programmers can't do better than cause a ding from 60' to miss my intended line by 5' or more, which in turn causes my putt to miss the hole by 15',
On long putts, if your line isn't perfect...a slight misread can result in a 15' miss...dinged or not...you're acting like you know the line you picked was perfect, and the power precisely what you needed, both of which you cannot know...like someone else said...try to get a little closer than 60'...a two putt from 60' is a great achievement...a three putt is expected...
longball2006:which leads to another missed putt because I am pissed.
This isn't their fault...it's yours. This is what is know as "recovery" in the golf world, a player's ability to overcome a bad shot...you seem to need a little work on this too i think...deep breaths...at least 5 of them...
longball2006:I think I have played enough to realize if I don't spend $$ to get the best putter available, I will be average at best. Not willing to do that. Has absolutely nothing to do with practice. All about buying your game, which is the antithesis of what golf is.
Then stop your whining...again you are wrong...Real golf is very much about buying things to help your game...you buy clubs...balls...gloves... grips...shoes...bags...carts...hats... sunglasses... GPS range finders...yardage books...not to mention every few years all of the above usually gets replaced for newer, better items...you are either not a serious golfer...or the only guy on the planet who still plays barehanded with wooden shaft clubs, 50 year old balls, sneakers, and putter you stole from a mini-golf course...If you aren't willing to upgrade your equipment...then accept mediocracy...But, for a second, lets say that you are that guy...you don't think that if you practice with your mini-golf putter you won't get any better with it??? Wrong yet again...you will probably never be as good as you could be with a modern, upgraded putter, but with practice you still would improve...so if you aren't going to buy a putter...GO PRACTICE!!
longball2006:my reference was metaphorical...responders made it into the debate, which I joined.
Lastly...you made it into a politcal debate the second you put in a polital reference... metaphorical or not...yet you seem to think otherwise...like nobody would jump at the chance to talk politics after reading your OP...like that was the only metaphor you could come up with...not too smart on your part...again...it's just plain wrong to think otherwise.
