    First off, be patient!

There's a lot of low-level gear available at low levels - it pays to be patient and wait for the good ones.

IIRC, that means, buy no driver, woods and irons before level 30, no wedges before level 38 and no putter of less than 500 cr. Add, no balls of higher level than the main clubs.

In general, try to get used to faster meter speeds - slow equipment costs extra.

When it comes to obtaining credits, some put a lot of their time into those "free" credits, some get no chance to do so because the offers are scarce for their country. Some get used to the feeling of being scammed by the offers, some don't. Some (like me) value their lifetime higher than the "free" credits to obtain and gladly spend some real money for their leisure. 10-20 $ per month are sufficient for some fun - cheaper than a night in town.

Don't wanna forget the "Days of Christmas" where generous people gift clubs to those asking - you just missed it, before Christmas.

    Have fun!

With the holiday season over and a new year advertising budgets change and for at least a couple of months free credits will be pretty scarce for everyone.

But you can always buy credits if have the means to do so.

Yep - how many recreatables are cheaper - i.e. free? Real golf is terribly expensive in comparison, at least here.

Don't forget, I said "sufficient for some fun" - it brought me to Legend, slowly, but not on top of any leaderboards.

Why should I even try? I earned 2,000 cr in three years plus approx. 500 in matches
    - is that enough for an answer?

The spendings are a guestimate. This would include all my equipment and balls
    - I did not really add it up.
