Of course I was refering to the overall, entire history of the Titleist clubs. They have had a come-up in near years...an improvement, but nothing like their ball. Most all Tour Player irons, for example are nothing more than attempts to copy and knock-off blades of old -- ie. Hogan, Ram, Honma, Mizuno and some others --- nothing new.

The virtual equipment mostly acts as an ad for the real equipment. The folks who play WGT are pretty likely, they figure, to buy the goods in RL.

All conjecture about WGT's business model, obviously.

Courses are an interesting aspect. The championship courses generally have nothing to gain from being on WGT, as most of them they are intensely private, snooty clubs with long waiting lists (see: Merion, Oakmont, St. George's et al.). (Bethpage and Saint Andrew's are publicly owned but constantly turning away punters so hardly need the exposure.) In their case, WGT has more to gain from the relationship than they do.

But the resort courses could use WGT as splendid marketing. A captive audience who would love to pay good money to play those courses in real life.

As long as WGT continues to add the championship courses, more resort courses like Bandon (+ Pinehurst, Kiawah and Pebble Beach in fact, which are also resort courses) are absolutely welcome and they should pay for the exposure or at least share the cost.

Hint: Wolf Creek, Harbour Town, etc.

Of course all of us are "barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen" when it comes to wgt direction or possible "hit list" projects and desires  ~ SP ~

Yes well put, being from SOCAL (Rancho Mirage) theres so many courses here represented by both the PGA & LPGA  that would like to partner up with WGT i would think, its been real nice to play the  Tru Golf courses this past week or so, nice change of pace   :-)  ...                 p,s ya you would think Titleist would want to partner with WGT , considering Titleist  is probably the most used ball in golf, i use them either band new or semi-new out of a bin from the pro shop for a buck apiece ... great irons too but i prefer Callaway  IRL..

    Well, like your name, it is an enigma that with around 120 golf courses in the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs), many, (talkin' mucho) that are as fine as any World Wide, and so  close together, and yet nothing here....I suppose the darn forest is difficult to view because of all the dang trees ;-}

Disregarding the commercial and contractual issues involved, how many of those will have the "Tour" length from the tips which is required?

Examples: OLY: 7,173 yds, STA: 7,216 yds, PIN: 7,640 yds.

These must be matched IMHO to avoid any massacres.

BTW, the Bandon Resort courses are "only" 6,633 to 6,944 yds, another possible reason for the Par 3 selection?

I'm not sure it works that way. In fact I think it's the other way around and WGT has to pony up the bucks.

I suspect that WGT has to pay to license the equipment brands they sell here and that a portion of what WGT charges goes towards or completely covers that use licensing fee.

I bet Titleist was approached, but declined an association with this virtual online golf game, or asked for more than WGT was willing to pay.

But since we use virtual golf balls the brand really doesn't matter. I buy the virtual balls that have the WGT performance characteristics I want.  For me those happen to be Nike balls.

Titleist being one of the oldest, and longest standing golf equipment makers, with a brand that represents quality, integrity, and honestly, probably doesn't want a black eye on the reputation they've worked so hard to build.

On the other hand you have Nike who's known to practice the slave labor practices of low wages and long hours worked by children overseas in Asia, has a brand  that stands for out sourcing and greed, exactly the opposite of what Titleist stands for.

Put 2 and 2 together and I think you'll see why we'll never see Titleist gear here at WGT.

Look at the price of Nike balls here, just imagine what Pro V's would cost!

I was at a sporting goods store the other day.  Seen yellow Callaway Hex Chrome and Hex Chrome +.  Basically the L33, L35, L37 and L39's on the shelf both the same price.  The Hex Chrome and Hex Chrome+  where both more expensive than some of the new RZN nike balls LOL.

Not saying that the Callaways should cost more here, but maybe the Nikes shouldn't cost so much more than them here.  More importantly, the real callaway balls play better than the nikes.  ;-)
