    fmagnets:
Our match will be underway in about 15 mins. We didn't account for Tom being in a part of Aus that's 30 min out from the rest, so he isn't here yet...

I am so sorry everyone! Tom and I had communicated about that at the beginning, and how the spreadsheet could only show full hour increments... but I clean forgot about it when it came to the recommended times.

Sorry to Mags, Icon and Rock for having to hang around, and to the viewers! Mea culpa :(

And thank you too to Joe and Seb and Wes for all your flexibility regarding Fred's internet repair.

    -------------

I'm also really sorry to have mostly missed such an exciting day. Weekends are hard for me to get online at all, and today included a family celebration for Burns Night (strictly speaking it's tomorrow, but that's a school night for us). For those who don't know, Rabbie Burns is Scotland's national poet, and Scots worldwide celebrate by eating haggis, tatties and neeps, and reading some of his great poems (oh, and also drinking some whisky)!

A great day for Team ROW, who take an early lead: ROW 3.5 - USA 0.5.

The event overview results sheet is here

Good luck to the Teutonic Two and Russ and AB in tomorrow morning's match!

MATCH A :: is scheduled for Sunday 1/25, at 1pm UTC (5am WGT time).

    A ::  ColumbusStorm & ab1983      vs        FairwayRuepel68 & johehejo

Hopefully one of you can offer a commentary through the Ryder Cup Chatzy Room. Thank you so much for the Match C participants for doing that today as well!

Wow! That's a very impressive win by the Teutonic Two. Superb play Jorg and Marc. Pretty much unstoppable.

Those stats are incredible: Marc's 100% GIR with 11.5 Ave. Distance is amazing given these sloping 2nd shot approaches, with Jorg barely any further away with his total of 13.9 ave. distance. It looks like only a miraculous putting round from the US could have kept them in touch.

Overall match score is now: Team USA 0.5 :: Team ROW 4.5

What an opening weekend for Team ROW!

The last match of the week 1 series is scheduled for Friday morning 9:30am WGT time... It's such a shame to wait so long after all this excitement!

Captains will need to start planning their Foursomes (AltShot) pairings, and we'll aim to have matchups set by Wed/Thu to help with planning. Once again, my goal is to get as many matches as need to be played at the weekend, targeted for the first weekend in the Sat 1/31-Mon 2/9 window, so that we have fall-back days if needed.

Would everyone please let me know if you have any availability changes for next period (Sat 1/31-Mon 2/9), so we can start working out pairings and match-ups for the Foursomes (AltShot).

Also, I've seen the threads in the forums about AltShot invites being problematic. As we practice for next week, please report in the thread as to whether you're having difficulties getting games started. Team ROW will have the honor going into week2, as they are now in the lead, so it's up to them to start every match.

Prospective pairings should also be thinking about who wants to tee off on the odd-numbered and even-numbered holes.

    Thanks!

Don't worry USA, we've got them right where we want them.

Congrats to the ROW team on a great opening weekend.

Corwyn, the only availability change to my schedule is that I'll be offline on Feb 1st from about 6:00pm Eastern time until Monday morning (or possibly afternoon).  It seems there is some big American football game that day.

Tough weekend for US (USA Team).  We are in need of a win, Go BigKnight and DaveDwingdale.

If anyone on the USA Team has a preference for playing partners in the next Alternate Shot round, please send me a pm.

Otherwise pairings are mostly based on time availability and then I try to use a little strategy (lol).

    Go Team USA!

It's been a tough start for team USA but Dave is right!, We brought them exactly where we wanted them  ;)

A strategy! This sounds like a plan captain!!!
