    Extra! Extra! :: Team Captains Announce their Pairings for the wk2 Foursomes (AltShot):

    Later tonight or tomorrow morning, I will publish the week2 Foursomes Match line-ups. Please look out for those...

    In the meantime below are the pairings that each captain has settled on for week2. Note that they are in alphabetical order (by first player in each pair): this is NOT the secret envelope order!

    Both captains did create their 'secret envelope' earlier today and I can reveal that, unfortunately, the direct correlation 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6 did not produce matches that had time overlap.

    There is an established process for what happens in this instance (see my post halfway down p7 here), and I'll be working through that this evening with the captains to ensure that we end up with matches that can actually take place.

    To avoid any possibility of fixing who plays whom, Russ (ColumbusStorm) and I have worked out a system whereby if any particular match-up can't work according to the Time Chart, we try the next combination. Thus, I start with the direct correlation of secret envelope order 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6; if that fails to produce viable overlap in all 6 matches, I try reverse order 1-6, 2-5, 3-4, 4-3, 5-2, 6-1; if that fails I shift the numbers by one, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-1; and then by 2, and so on. If it fails even after shifting the numbers through all 6, then with captains' agreement, I would isolate the pairings with limited availability and we would set the match involving that pair, then revert to the original 'random draw' to determine the other matches as close as possible to how they originally fell.

    That way, even though I'm both organizer and a player for one of the teams, we have a process to follow that's impartial. Hope that makes sense.

    Don't change a winning team!

    I can't wait to know who will be our opponents and when we will play. I hope our game will be streamed; I've read the documentation to do it myself, but for an unknown reason I have an upload speed of only 0,5Mb! I need to contact my internet provider to try to solve that but I don't think it will be ok for next week... :(

    I was hoping that might be possible too Joe...

    I PM'd Seb this morning to see if he can stream (as someone mentioned earlier, he does have a Twitch account), but he told me his playing conditions become so bad it's impossible. And I don't think your opponents are on Twitch...

    I've been hoping to be able to stream my matches too, but I very much doubt it can happen with my laptop. Even if the connection speed was good enough (which I'm sure it isn't: Ping 59ms, download speed 2.55 Mbps, upload 0.43 Mbps), I've only got 4GB of RAM memory (the Twitch instructions recommend 8). Also, of the various tools for broadcasting that the Twitch instructions recommend, two seem to be for Windows-only, while the third OBS, requires Mac OS 10.8 (I have 10.6).

    Are there any Mac users here that have made it work? (Or do you know anyone in the community who is on an older Mac and has done it?)

    I believe that we will have streaming from Devon for wk2 Match B, Icon for wk2 Match C, Ben for wk2 Match E, and Mags for wk2 Match F, so 4 out of 6 is fantastic. Perhaps those individuals can confirm here in the thread. Thanks!

    Week 2 Foursomes Matches Announced!

    The secret envelopes were as follows:

    And here are the resulting week 2 Matches: this time around 3 matches can only work at the weekend, 1 can only work weekday, and the other two have overlap times both weekday and weekend. Please read the suggested times information below and consult the Chart.

    As I mentioned in the earlier post, the direct correlation 1-1,2-2, etc did not work out for scheduling. I followed the process outlined above, and match-ups worked out perfectly for all 6 matches only in the 5th permutation, by shifting the secret envelope line-up order by 3 places (ShiftBy3: 1-4, 2-5, 3-6, 4-1, 5-2, 6-3).

    If anyone cares about transparency, you can reference all the tabs at the bottom to see what the problem was with each other try. Most often it was that I just don't have much weekend availability and was coming up against players that had no weekday daytime overlap. Ironically, there is a 2hr window on Saturday morning that could work for me, but only on the 1st and 4th weekend of the event.

    As always, it will take everyone's best intentions and clear communication to pull this off! Please pay attention to PMs and this thread, and confirm your matches for precise times and be there as scheduled! Real-life may well interfere, but let's all do our very best to make this work. Thanks!

    Week 2  (from Sat 1/31 to Mon 2/9):: will be Foursomes (Alt Shot) with a set of six matches to be played over all 18 holes at Olympic with the following conditions:

    Olympic :: 4-Player Alt Shot :: Ranked Mode :: Full 18 :: Uneven Lies :: 60 second timer :: all other conditions as set by the game lobby

    Please note: Matches should end at the 18th, if they haven't ended earlier. You should not play Extra Holes. If match is tied after the 18th hole, then the result is A/S, and each team wins 1/2 pt.

    The line-up for the 2nd week 4-Player Foursomes (Alt Shot) matches, to be completed by Mon 9th Feb, is as follows (see Availability Chart here):

If you want to join most of the other matches in a SuperWGT RyderCup Saturday extravaganza (to rival the SuperBowl next day, lol!), you might opt to foliow the Icon/Rock v Lu/Tess match, and start yours on Saturday 1/31 at around midnight UTC (4pm WGT time)?

    Please be careful about which day you schedule (as Tom will be 1 day ahead of mm, Wes & Mags) & note that Tom is 10.5hrs ahead of UTC time.

    mmyers0 & Wes (Wesdogg75): perhaps Sat at your 6pm local time.

    Mags (fmagnets): perhaps Sat at your 10pm local time.

    What to do next?

    Send Friend Requests to your playing partner and your opponents from the other team. Either use this forum thread to confirm your matches via public replies (please quote this post and any relevant replies to make it easier to track), or do it all via PMs. [Always post here in the thread so we know you are scheduled.]

    This tourney will not work if you rely on just 'catching your partner and opponents green' -- you must schedule a specific time and date, and be there at that time!

     

    Team ROW will be leading after the first series and thus have the honor for this second series, the Foursomes (AltShot) matches.

    And, the procedure for figuring out who tees off first within each team is explained in WGT's FAQ (copied below, with my emphasis):

    How are the teams made?

    The creator of the game invites 3 other people to play, then chooses a partner from one of those players to form Team Green. The remaining 2 players form Team Gold, and the representative for Team Gold gets to choose who will tee off first for their team. The creator of the game will always tee off first for Team Green.

    What are the rules for Alternate Shot?

    Whoever tees off first for the team will tee off on all of the odd numbered holes (1,3,5 etc.). Their partner will tee off on the even numbered holes (2,4,6 etc,).
