There is a limit for the course as to how much of the surrounding geography has been contoured and coded into the game physics. The holes at the outer edge of the course will have an edge where the game simply thinks the universe ends here. Mostly that can be easily seen as a fence line, water, coast, brush, building etc... But for a few holes (this one is an example) the universe ends halfway across what appears to be a perfectly good adjacent fairway.
If you watch camera #2, you will see the ball simply disappear as it rolls the last few inches. Unlucky - but you rolled a couple of inches off the edge of where the game geography coding stopped. I guess you only find out the limits by pushing them that bit too far :) Now you know that you need to keep a bit right if that limit.
