Play hole #3 at Cabo, and hit a drive which ends up on the fringe.  Finish the hole, then look at the scorecard.  The scorecard indicates that you missed the fairway.

Unfortunately fringe is not the same as the Fairway.

True, But with in the same rule, It does not count against you, The same way as a par 3.fairway miss does not count against you..

Check the USGA rule's more closely on this one.

If it wasn't for this little WGT quirk I would have several drives over 430, would have one on my stats of 437, I eagled the hole but showed a missed fairway. Who cares about stats any how?

Sometimes Cabo #3 shows a missed fairway when you land on the green too...

missed 2 fairways Par 3 over drove.but still on fairway.

par 4 drove the green 20 feet from hole. But stats still showed 100%.

SIMO. disregard the game card. and go by game stats.

Hmm, not sure if stats showed a miss.

Players are supposed to hit the green on Par3s, thus there is no FW hit. The scorecard will show  "no hit" but it's omitted in the stats.

    Which rule? Please quote it.

To my knowledge, the Rules of Golf do not know FW hits nor GIR nor drive length.

The PGA stats count the drive length regardless where it ends up, bunker or rough, while the common local reglementation of "Longest drive" competitions require a FW hit. I heard once that a fringe hit was denied the prize in an amateur tourney (370 m distance).

    So, which rule?

Same thing happened to me, drive onto fringe on a par 4, and the card showed it as a missed fairway and the stats did too.

I guess if you get a double eagle/HiO on a par four that counts as missed fw too, I will have to assume this as I doubt I will ever find out by experience.

Nope it counts as a hit fairway.
