Driving the green or landing on the fairway counts as hitting the fairway with your drive.
Landing on the fringe does NOT count as hitting the fairway!
Not a big deal but I thought you would like to know.
Great Game
Thanks

That is because technically the fringe is not part of either the green or fairway but part of the rough. And I believe if you check you might find that landing on the green on a par 4 doesn't count toward your landing on the fairway either. (Edit) I just played St. Andrews front side and drove # 9 and no landing on the green on a par 4 does not register as landing in the fairway.

In the same round (for me) landing on the fringe on St.Andrews #9 did not count as a fairway. Landing on the green on #10 did count as hitting the fairway. The fringe is the rough?....well OK
Next time I drive a par 4 green I'll post the result here.
Thanks for the reply
