This has probably been asked before, but i've just started posting, so here goes, why are the balls so expensive?

    thanks

I agree, they can be, but at TP level, I used Tour SD (until legend mostly) and at 65 cr a sleeve, the cost was bearable.

I think you must remember that WGT is a business, and balls are the biggest revenue stream from the company.

I think most of us would like balls to be cheaper but that is very unlikely. The downside is we cannot buy balls from Walmart or even Tesco.

So what you spend is up to you - yes better balls will aid your game, but until you tier up I would stay clear of expensive balls so you can accrue your credits and it does not hurt as much when you lose a ball (more common at lower tiers).

Of course while the game can be played for free, the customary and normal expenses and assumed profit expectation is here as it is with any business. Just how or what formula is used is not known. Any ball up-grade will be better than the starter ball and they start at .10 cents and go up to $7.50. It is a matter of finding the ball that suites your game and your pocketbook. Many of the very best players here are happy with choices in the $2.50-$3.00 range.  ~ SP ~

As mentioned, except the 2 TruGolf courses WGT licenses, we don't have to pay to play.

The cost of balls, clubs, and other virtual product is one of the ways WGT is able to pay  their payroll and other business costs.

They cost what they do because people pay it.

Want to see lower costs?  Boycott expensive balls, and convince everyone else to do so.  Markets respond to consumer forces.

Would not mind paying if you got full use of the ball you purchased, but to lose it due to some meter glitch or an internet problem is harsh. So you have a good round, then on the last hole on congo you get a meter glitch causing you to miss the ding slightly early plop penalty shot and its cost you a ball as well. I think a penalty shot is enough without taking the ball.

They say its like real golf so you loose the ball BUT ITS NOT REAL. ITS A GAME. If it was real like two weeks ago my ball landed in dog poo, that's when I chuck my ball away not on the next tee because I think its lost compression. NO wgt, don't have virtual dog poo as a new money making idea.

Just let people have say 180 hits around about 3 rounds of golf with each ball.

Agreed, the balls do not last long enough!

I feel the same way,as well as if you pay a higher price for a ball, why is it's duration shorter then a cheaper ball, color me confused.

2.5 duration on a 700 credit ball is just mean!

I play 600 credit, L+85 Nike 20 XI-X Vapor balls that have a Durability rating of 2.5, which is 120 hits per ball.

Putts don't count as hits (unless you take a Mulligan in Practice mode).

Par is set for an 18 hole par 72 course for 2 putts on each hole, or 1/2 of par, leaving 36 hits of durability a ball loses in 18 holes.

So assuming you shoot par and make 2 putts per hole you use up 36 hits per 18 holes.

    120 / 36 = 3.33 18 hole rounds per ball x 3 balls = 9.99 rounds per sleeve of balls.

Many serious real world golfers use a new sleeve of balls (3 balls) just to play 18 holes. All the balls left at the end of the 18 holes become practice balls and don't get used for a scored match ever again.

So from that perspective - WGT ball are cheap, and last on hell of a long time if they are't hit OB, in the weeds, or in the water.
