I respect your opinion andyson but then explain the fact that I play on a Dell Inspirion laptop and have relatively no problems with my meter. Nothing fancy on the laptop either.

For two weeks prior to last saturday, I too had very little issues with meter spikes, lags and unexpected deviations with club distances (except putter), using a mid-range 1yr old Toshiba laptop. Never once in those two weeks did I "tweak" anything'

However this past week has been a real challenge, to say the least. "Tweaked" everything as recommended by WGT and player's suggestions. All to no avail.

I would like to add one thing, somedays I play at all hours of the day/night. Appears playing later into the night (12-3 am pst) the meter spikes are rare or at least pre-warn  (stutters) before the point of "no return".  Perhaps this is due to less activity being at the later hours?....... Or I am playing on instincts, and don't notice or just don't care.;) LOL

I am having exactly the same issues you have mentioned. Started earlier this month - before that my meter was smooth 99% of the time.

I have a 4year old laptop and my server is not the fastest by any stretch and yes some day's are better than others, but for the most I don't get to many problems apart from when america wakes and all hell breaks loose.

I have spoken to some IT friends of mine and they say the biggest problem is probably due to the fact that WGT do not run their own servers but use datapipe which can and will over load with so many people online playing the game, maybe with all the sponsorship and money WGT are making it they could invest into getting their own servers.

If they want this game to carry on growing and improve someone at WGT needs to get their head out of their ass and spend money on their own servers and try and improve the flashplayer they are using.

    andyson:

I have to respectfully disagree Sarge. If a computer far exceeds the stated minimum requirements, as mine does, I should not need to tweak it constantly to get a smooth meter.   Why does having only one WGT browser window help?  Why does pausing at the top of the backswing help?  Why do players clean out their friends list to avoid meter lag?  How come I need to turn off so many game options to get the game to play well on my computer?

The "90% of the problem is my computer" has been bandied about so much its become gospel around here.  IMO its nonsense.  WGT needs to take ownership of the meter problem. It is their problem whether caused by their code, the browser or Flash.

Couldn't agree more Andy.  I've made this same point countless times.  Both my computers are well above suggested specs and neither runs the game right.  If you look though, the suggested specs haven't been updated since early 2009 yet WGT admits that the game becomes more intense on systems with every update that adds new features.

I can have a smooth meter on the first hole, and then on the second hole it jerks me out of the seat, and then by the 5th it is smooth again. Sometimes when you hit the ball, the ball jerks along the green. I have used chrome, opera, internet explorer, and sometimes one is ok and sometimes the other is ok, but on all 3 they have a jerky meter at times

I have a 1 year old sony, loaded, and i use comcast cable, which is the fastest isp that I know of. My cache is clean and I put in the game thing download, and I have tried everything. I can go for 10 days without a jerk, and then all hell breaks loose. The last 2 nights the meter has been off the wall on all browsers, and this morning it is smooth as silk

    Exactly X,

I've been experiencing the same thing regarding meter being smooth for several holes then can't get within 4 of center for several holes then back to normal.   Also meter was perfect all morning then tonight complete garbage.  WGT says that ISP speed and load has nothing to do with meter performance but not sure I believe that.  Internet load very high in Athens GA with home Georgia game tonight and meter is near unplayable.

Here is a similar thread I posted earlier this week.

Bottom line is I sure do wish WGT could figure out a way to make the game operate properly on far more computers than it currently does.  The number of posts on this issue were very few last year but grow exponentionally with each passing month.  Crappy thing is they won't even tell us if this is something they are remotely concerned with or trying to resolve.

I was asked by someone who I can only assume is WGT staff to lay off the talk about legal action.  Not sure if this was a threat or just small talk.

What I really do not understand is that I was making a valid point regarding the status of this game and became the target of jokes and insults.  Enjoy the game if you can, I'm fed up and leaving.

    You guys can have it.
