Wondering if anyone who has played this tournament has ever had anything other than a gale force tailwind on #8 and hurricane headwind on #9?  I have played this tournament at least 30 times.  Only once have I had anything other than a 25+ tailwind on #8 to the tucked pin and have NEVER had anything but a headwind on #9.  I know the wind is SUPPOSED to be random but certainly doesn't appear that way.

At least 80% of the time I've had strong headwinds on #5 and #14.  14 is particularly frustrating when you have to play left because you can't clear the trap and fescue, then you see your ball lying right in the left fairway plain as day but it gets declared OB.  I know there is an issue with not having enough map room on #14 but why the hell does it get declared OB when you can see the ball sitting there plain as day.  Sure would be nice if WGT would let us hit driver off the deck (if only on STA 14) since they admit they can't remap the left side of the hole.

Just had to vent a little but would love to hear if I'm alone on this or if others are seeing the same winds.

I recall having tailwind a few times at #9, I can even remember getting on the green once for an eagle putt. The worst hole for headwind seems to be #14 , I almost never get a favorable wind there. Which of course sucks, as 1 little mistake means out bounds and game in the trash. I have tried aiming for the rough right of the large bunker rather then going left but you need to be close enough to get there. Now when you need a headwind like at the par 3's with front pins then you don't get it LOL. I can only recall a few headwinds on the par 3's , its very rare. Especially at  #11 front pin, I always seem to get 30 mph tailwind there. I just try to place my tee short of the green in the rough and flop close for par and move on. Very frustraing conditions and Iv'e lost my share of balls out of bounds at 14 and over the fence at 16 and  had a few dissappear after flying into the hotel as well. But it's still my favorite RG to play, better than going crazy putting at Kiawah !

I'm with you on this one Jake. I've only ever had tailwind once on #9 and #10, always 27mph+ headwind on those 2,(and #14 aswell). If ever i havn't had a headwind on #14 its a heavy sw or se..never left/right or tailwind. And as for #8 and #11, i've had 2 headwinds in all my time playing St Andrews Ready go's, usually i get a strong tailwind.  Maybe its set out to be maximum shot difficulty, but the one that gets me most is the 30 mph right to left wind on #16, the aim arc wont go far enough right due to the Out of Bounds, and trying to guess with aim ark close to golfer is nightmare, if i ding or go left of ding its in bunker, or if i try and go a bit to the right of ding i usually go OOB! If i hadn't of bogeyed #11today, and a meter skip on #17 i could have got -9, but i'll settlle for -7 anytime, and only one meter jerk caught me out all round so i'm happy!

    Hey Jake-

I just finished that RG, had a 25 cross at 8, and 30mph hw at 9. However, I would say 1/5 times I play that RG I get something besides a tail and hw on 8, 9. Furthermore, probably 1/20 times I get a hw at 8 and tail at 9....love it when that happens :)

add me to the random winds group - seem to have as many headwinds as tailwinds on both holes.  I will say I've been getting disproportionate headwinds on 14 lately!!!  LOL, just kidding Jake.

That tournament is set up to hard pins. "Hard pins" might become easy if you have helping wind, maybe that's why we see so many tailwinds on pars 3 and so many headwinds elsewhere.

Just a thought, we should try this on practice mode.

Playing it just now and had a perfect 25mph headwind on 8, followed by a 24mph tailwind on 9. Guess it's my lucky day :^)

nickojii is right Jake, seems that there is a 5% chance of actually having the par 3's into the wind.Really is a hard tournament to score low on.I want to vent 65% of the time about this tournament but figure what's the use lol.

Just played it again.  Headwind on every single hole (through 16 anyway) except the par 3s both had 25 tails.  More deviations and meter freezes than I care to remember.  Can you say withdraw?

At least 10 times now that I've played this tourney and had a headwind on each and every hole except the par 3s.  Even with that I have put up some decent scores (60 61) but with 20+ spikes or freezes and 8 dingers veering off line as much as 15 yds from where the normally land, what's the use?

Don't understand how the meter can vary so much from one round to the next.  Played the STA back RG right before and meter was perfect.  What do you know a 28 with a lipout on 17.

I stopped playing this ready go all together.   It it more of a crap shoot, then skill.   You get winds like Jake mentions are you are cooked.

    Cheers,
