wgt should release some driving irons, a quick look online and you see taylormade UDI 1-3, adams driving irons in 4 different lofts, Ping rapture DI and callaway x ultility to name a few. they seem popular with some of pros using them.

im sure wgt could sell them for 1500 - 2000 credits, it would make the game a bit more interesting too, trying a different strategy on holes and having a bit of fun

think of the sales wgt, alot of people would buy them, they would sell

I am not agreeing nor disagreeing Marty, but for me the only advantage would be ensuring you hit the fairways as distance is going to be somewhere within the range of a 3W and a hybrid.

With the top drivers in the game, they tend to be very forgiving so unless you miscalculate wind or miss the ding by a long way, you invariably still find the fairway. The amount of times I have said sh$t only to find the fairway after a missed ding - then say gees I like this driver!

This for me is an issue. So why use a driving iron when a driver or even a 3W will find the fairway, and be closer. Take Merion (I struggle on this track) I will often use a 3W from the tee - if I had a driving iron I would still use the 3W.

In real golf I am old school and still carry a 1 or 2 iron, which I often use from the tee (and sometimes 2I from the f/w). Yes I lose distance but I have a reasonable fairways in regulation stat. Using driver I find myself in trouble. The point is risk versus reward - and this game does not have any in the clubs department.

Add risk my having less forgiving drivers and probably much fast meters and by introducing more forgiving clubs (such as a driving iron) that will not offer the distance is the trade off. However it must be noted, the top players will probably still put the ball on a dime from 240 yards out.

Of course the first part will not happen, the game is way past that now, so why would WGT introduce a club that will be little or no advantage?

it would be fun to have driving irons, i like to play around and not use the driver off the tee on some of the shorter holes to play the way most of the pros would, taking bunkers out of play etc, you will have a longer shot to the green but its great when you get the club and distance right and make a birdie and its great when you have a round where you do just as well not using the driver and shot a mid to low 60's.

its more about the fun than anything else, it would be great to have these to use on the links courses where the ball runs and bounces on the fairway, the best wgt players will not buy these but im sure there is more average/good players that would buy these to have a bit of fun and dont care that they wont stop on a dime from 240 yds.

As a choice or perhaps a novelty item, a 1-iron (or for that matter a 2) would be a nice item especially if it replicated the famous "stinger" shot taught to Tiger by Harmon. Since we don't, I have always relied upon the punch driver, which is as close as it now gets. It is useful on Andy's #1, and I always, always use it on Olympic #18, and elsewhere. ~SP~

Hmmm, so SP is saying I use a novelty item on a weekly basis! Sounds more akin to going into a seedy shop dressed in a trench coat and a newspaper covering my face......

Marty I understand you want the club for fun purposes but from a business perspective WGT need to allocate their resources that will maximise the profitability - I have my doubts whether they would sell enough to be viable....

I would also love the ability to split clubs and ideally only play with 3 clubs - this would make a fun comp as they do in real life. But .........sighs

they would sell, people love buying new clubs, just to try them out, then dont use them for a while, then add them to the bag again, most people on here dont be at the top of the leaderboards so they are her to have fun and spend some credits, there is so many clubs that wgt could sell, i would probably buy them all at some point to see what they are like.

they should sell every club that is available in the real world, variety sells
