I had a 175 yd tee shot with a 6mph wind from the left so I aim left of the flag, enough so it should come down within a few feet of the pin. I ding my swing right on the line and I see my tee shot start to head to the right. I end up 23 feet right of the pin. Can someone please explain this to me as I am totally confused.

search 'VEM' or 'the beast' in the search box Jobeak. You will have all the answers that you could ever ask for.... In a nutshell, it is programmed shot deviation designed to make the shots outcome a bit more random, and less based on skill.

Although Virtual Equipment Model (VEM) "is" a "major" part of this game, I tend to believe it is not "randomly" programmed for a particular shot. IMHO............without knowing the type of and ts/bs on the ball that variation (deviation) could have very easily have happened...just saying
