As a long time (13 years) moderator at QRZ.com, the largest amateur radio site on the web, I can assure that moderators are not descended from the Spanish Inquisition or the Salem witch trials. One post does not usually send you to the cow pasture.

    Of course, there

After searching and reading through a few of the many previous posts about the subject of moderation, I chose this one to reply to!  Aren't you lucky?!

Having been a moderator and admin on three large (one huge!) car forums, I would suggest a fairly short time of required moderation (10-20 posts) to try and root out any bots, etc., and then move to what I believe moderators should actually be spending their time on:

That is, let people post and only go in and look at the ones that get flagged as "abuse" or whatever, taking a reasonable reaction to what is happening.  The reaction could be nothing (false report), a warning, temp ban, all the way up to permanent ban in extreme cases.  This should tamp down on actual abuse, without encouraging "post whoring" like I see on many forums that have a required minimum number of posts before the user can either see or post in certain subforums.

This post, will of course, be moderated, since I am still in posting purgatory at WGT!

    Thanks for reading.

Hi WGT Icon, i've been here for over three years and i still have to wait for moderation. Do you think you can do me the same favor as the gent above?  Thank you.                                                                                                                                                                                                  Cheers, quadrock123, mike

    TopShelf2010:
You could try posting on Icon's Wall on his profile page. This may speed up the process.

Or as someone said earlier, send a mod a friend request, and then a PM requesting that your moderation be terminated. I think what most people on moderation are missing, is that the mods don't keep track of all the people on moderation, or, how long they have been there. As long as your posts are not overtly offensive, a relatively low number of posts, and a request to be taken off, will usually do the trick.

    Doc:)

    Ah!  Good info to know.

Most forums I have dealt with have preset post counts to change a status like this, so this one is different!

    Thanks.

(of course, you and I won't see this post for a day now!)

Sometimes its 2 days before a post shows up, and then its lost on a previous page. And, I have had 2 post to never show up. Also, its a pain in the but making F1 picks timely.
