C -- good suggestion but I would rather you guys just start from 1 with the score staying the way it was when you disconnected and just play 12 more holes.   That's how we had set it up originally (anticipating people getting bounced with this new Alt Shot game)  and several others have done that during the tournament.     As long as you play 18 holes.

So after a little bit of drama, a fantastic final was played today between the Cool Boys and the TCC Titans (I just made that up :)). It was a great match on Bethpage Black that had a ton of good shots, bad shots, ebbs, flows, and ultimately, some clutch putting by my partner Bart.

The result: cyl6 and Bartmania beat Coolswing and Imcoola 2 & 1.

Here's the recap and scorecard below:

#1 - we concede to them since they were 1up when we got DC'd the first time. Cool Boys 1 Up.

#2 - Chris gets metered on his drive and it goes left into the trees. We hit our approach to 5 ft, and they concede the hole. AS.

#3 - I hit my drive long, 23 ft into the fringe. Vic is 12 ft left of the hole (back left pin). Bart makes a great chip in; Chris' putt just misses. TCC 1 Up.

#4 - we halve with routine birds.

#5 - Bart tugs his approach from 205 slightly (right pin), and it's above the hole in the fringe. Chris hits a nice approach from 197 that bounces hard, and it goes into the fringe right.  Vic's birdie try lips out, and we halve the hole.

#6 - halve with routine birdies. Vic's approach is into 1 ft, mine to 3 ft.

#7 - right pin. On the green, they have 50+ ft above the hole. They get a time delayed twice (penalty shot) due to Vic's son waking up; we offered to miss, but they ended up 3-putting b/c Chris didn't see our offer. TCC 2 Up.

#8 - front pin, Bart hits a great approach to 7 ft above the hole. Chris' tee is right, and Vic burns the edge on the putt. I make the birdie, and we go 3 Up.

#9 - Chris fades a nice one into 6 ft. I miss from 20 ft and we go back to 2 up.

#10 - Left back pin. I hit a terrible approach shot from 201 to 11 yds past the hole in the fringe. Vic hits to 11 ft above the hole. Both 3rd shots are tough - but Bart plays a beauty of a chip that barely misses going in. Chris barely taps his putt and it misses high side. Still TCC 2 up.

#11 - Right pin. Two good approach shots. I somehow manage to 360 my birdie putt from 10 ft, Vic makes his, and TCC 1 up now.

#12 - the tough front left pin. I play safely right and Bart barely misses a 25ft birdie off the hill. Vic hits a great approach to about 9 ft, but it has a ton of break and Chris just barely misses.

#13 - halved with routine birds, although Vic's third from 55 yds almost spins back in.

#14 - front pin. Bart drills his approach to 3 ft, and I make the putt to put TCC back to 2 up.

#15 - front pin. From the fw, Chris plays a brilliant approach that rolls back down the hill to 6 ft. Bart is out left a bit, I have a 12 fter with ridiculous break and miss it. Vic rolls his in for bird, and TCC's lead is cut to 1 up.

#16 - front left pin. From perfect lies in the fw, both Vic and I somehow manage to ding our shots and watch them fly 25+ ft long. Bart is first from 28 ft... and he drains it!!! Calmly, Chris steps up from 26 ft... and he drains it! Great stuff.

#17 - right pin. From 194, Vic goes pin-high left. I am right on line, but apparently jacked up, since my 4i flies 22 ft past. Bart putts first from above the hole... and buries it.  Chris from 15 ft left, just misses, and that folks, is the match. TCC wins 2 & 1.

On a personal note, I just want to thank Lou for putting together a great tournament. This was a blast to play. We need more alt-shot events. Then to Vic and Chris for working with scheduling issues to get this match played, and for their great play. Really enjoyed it.

And finally, to my partner in crime Bart, for some amazing play over the entire tournament, including some ridiculously clutch putts when it mattered most. Awesome playing Bart.  Until next time, here's the scorecard:

As always, I think Clarence seriously underscores his own play.  If it wasn't for him, there is no way we win this match....or any others.  Clarence and I seem to complement each other's games in the perfect kind of way.  All I can say is I never feel any kind of pressure when I play with him.

And to our opponents, the Cool Boys (although I think you should change your team name to the Cool Bros)  :), it was a great match.  You two are as tough as they come as a team.  When the going got tough, you really stepped up your games and made it one hell of a match.  It took two putts of significant distance to beat you....if those two putts don't go in, we have a different outcome for sure.

To Lou, class act tournament run.  I say this with utmost sincerity.....I hope there is a 2nd edition to this tournament.  If there is, can me and Clarence be #5 seeds again?  ;)  (just kidding)  We'll gladly take #4 seeds.   hehehe

Last but not least, to my great country club, Trasngressional.  So many great members there.  Without players like nickolijj and JCOlson (just to name a couple of guys that I play with a lot), there's no way Clarence and I would be champions.  Many fun rounds with the guys certainly makes for great practice....and great chances to hone skills!

Already looking forward to playing again!  Great playing Clarence!!!

Congrats to Clarence and Bart for winning an excellent tourney and for a great match !

Also I'd like to thank Clarence for his patience during the time it took for us to arrange the match.  He was a gentleman and a good sport through out the games that we played.

To Bart,  my apology for name calling and it wasn't necessary and inappropriate but I still maintained what I mentioned previously that his comments was not needed to fuel bad feeling on both sides !  The other thing I'd like to point out is that both you and Clarence had mentioned on the 7th hole that you'd miss your short putt due to what happened with me and hence Chris missed his putt as he assume it makes no difference only to see you not keep your words and putted in !!  I find that very strange but did not say anything as it was up to you guys what you wanted to do but i do question your sportsmanship in this matter !  I do not want to sound like a sore loser but that's the fact, and if the result of that hole was what it should have been (a halved) then the match could have taken a very different course for us.

To my partner Chris, thanks for being such a great partner mate and please don't feel bad that you couldn't play as well as you wanted.  You've been an awesome partner and your play was fantastic through some of our tough matches and really luck was not on our side yesterday otherwise I feel we could have won the match.

And finally to my fellow club mate, WGA Tour organizing partner and great friend Lou, thank you very much for your time and effort in putting on a wonderful tourney that was so much fun and a complete joy to play in.  Sorry Chris and I couldn't come home with the trophy but I hope we did our club proud that we made it to the final, maybe next time we'll do it for you bro ! :-))

    Coolswing,

This is how it happened from my point of view.  Your partner was putting for a 5 (which would have been a 4 if you hadn't timed out and gotten a penalty).  I was putting for a 4 from about 2 feet.  As soon as the screen came up and before your partner putted the ball, I said, if your partner makes this putt, I'll miss on purpose.  I didn't want to win the hole based on a timeout.  However, your partner missed the 7 footer.  So even if I intentionally miss my 2 foot putt, Clarence would make the next one and you'd still lose the hole.  After I putted in, I saw where your partner said, I didnt take my time on that putt.  I'm sorry he didnt see my offer in time....but I think what I did was more than fair in that instance.

we just finished out 3rd place match against Jimbeam/DoctorTom

    b0gey/losersss win 1 UP

Great match and it came down to the last hole.    I holed out #8 from off the green to keep this match at AS, both teams ended up in deep rough on #9, but mine was a mis-hit, theirs was a deviation.    Tough way to end the match, but it was great playing the two of these gentlema

I would like to thank the deviations and furthermore Lou for hosting such a fun tournament.

doctortom and jimbeam ran into some very rotten luck on the final hole, otherwise this match could have gone either way.  Thanks to them for a good match.   Bogey's chip in on 8 was remarkable.  Thanks to Lou and Deviations for this tournament.  It was a pleasure to participate in and finally thanks to B0geybuster for a great run for a couple of #9 seeds.
