Playing a threesome in skins , a guy does an approach shot that is on the green yet 45 yrd away .

Instead of putting on the green as you would do on a normal golf course , he chips it over the lines he should be putting across.

You cannot do this on a legal golf course , why is this allowable on a WGT green .

Do this on any normal golf course across the world you would be banned and physically altered .

To do this in a skins game is even worse.

WGT please ensure that your golf courses are the same as the normal golf courses you portray.

Have players penalised for driving , chipping etc on greens , WHY is it not already ????

Nothing in the rules of golf that say you cant chip on the greens, been seen on TV, Mickelson and many years ago one Mark Calcavechia, who used a wedge on one of the larger greens at St Andrews, the divot was the size of a dinner plate, frowned upon yes, illegal, I dont think so!!

Maybe someone no doubt will clarify!!

    Complete nonsense, I'm afraid.

    Related-

Some people might use a 3W or driver, etc. to putt and some may even win a few of the 'bottom of the cup' awards as a result because it won't register as a 'putt'. I'm not sure if this has/should been/be changed by WGT.

    http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/6957.aspx

    ------

    Bottom of the Cup 9
12 or fewer putts in a 9-hole round

    Bottom of the Cup 18
24 or fewer putts in an 18-hole round

    edit:

to be clear, what I mean by 'I'm not sure if this has/should been/be changed by WGT.' is that any club shot on the green area should be counted as a putt in stats, no matter what club you choose to use. (depending on what is correct in the rules of golf, or generally accepted as fair in the community consensus)

Any club on any stroke!! (but not in the rules)

AFAIK, the only mentionings in the rules are the fair shot, rule 14-1, and the illegal shot from the wrong green. Rule 25-3.

Edit: Third, the Sam Snead "crocket" putt, Rule 16.1 e.

Coming back to line one, I like to putt from the bunker and to drive from FW or rough. Special shot: The Tunesian chip from 60 yds out (and a friend was perfect in putting from 90 yds off the green).

I sometimes use a wedge on a green both here and in real life. Unless there is a local rule there is nothing to stop you.

It like the underarm bowl in cricket .

Personally i think WGT should change it  and not let any club other than a putter take a hit on greens .

    Cheers for your responses
