Hi Dave, computer related stuff can be very annoying sometimes because you only have to make the slightest mistake with regards how things are entered that it's easy for processes to go down the plug hole.

But anyway, here's a video I made for someone else a while ago when they were having problems posting a video, so hopefully it might be helpful to you also.

...and don't forget that if the URL begins 'https' to remove the 's'.

    Good luck.  : )

I have some more video posting tips if you're interested, stop yawning at the back, lol!

If you want to post a music video or other audio that has uninteresting visuals or perhaps a still picture that doesn't add anything to the auditory experience, then you can reduce the video window to show just the progress bar & controls. Set the dimensions to between 100 ─ 450 for the width and 24 for the height, and add  ?autohide=0  to the end of the video URL, to force the controls to display.

It's also possible to specify a start and end time if you don't want the entire video to play. The time values should be added as seconds, as shown in the example below which has a start time set at 3 minutes (180 seconds) and end time set at 5 minutes (300 seconds).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tPnX7OPo0Q?start=180;end=300

When posted to the forum the progress bar will display something like this...

If the YouTube logo on the controls bar is clicked to watch the video on the host site, the end time will not function, but the start time should.

To make both the start and end times work with a fullscreen video, then a link, with a small modification to the video URL, is only way I could get this to work. Add your start and end times to the URL as before, and in addition, replace the watch?v=  part of the URL with v/ to change it from...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tPnX7OPo0Q?start=180;end=300

    to...

    http://www.youtube.com/v/8tPnX7OPo0Q?start=180;end=300

Then use that to create your link.

...okay at the back, you can wake up now. : )

Thank you janhv, I still get caught by it. It doesn't matter if it's in a link, but it does matter if you want to post a video here.  : )
