I've only been on WGT a short while now (May 2010). I've finally read the system requirements lol

I think I've read every forum regarding tips, browsers, options .... pretty much anything I thought would help. Turns out it's just my clunker & with me not being computer savy in the least. I'm hoping I'm able to upgrade but with a little help from those that know.

Currently, I play on a Toshiba laptop, (no mouse) I think it's about 6-7 years old and no upgrades or addons. The processor is Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2080 @ 1.73 GHz and the Memory (RAM) is only 1.00 GB with a 32-bit Operating System. I'm not sure what all that means but I've come to realize, there ain't no clubs WGT has made or can be made to improve my very stagnant game. I have no problems connecting to games and finishing them out but I find the best "gameplay" I have is when I'm solo. Which for me defeats the meaning of the game. I've left to many partners in the AS format in the fescue, mulch and trees. But I enjoy the game and friends I've made to just quit & move on.

I guess in short I'm asking if there's anything I might be able to do to this laptop (upgrade wise) to help it along. Without a sledgehammer lol

Thanks in advance for any help & suggestions guys & gals, I appreciate it.

Hope you are all having a very safe & happy holiday season. Merry Christmas from our house to yours.

Probably not much you can do.  I have 2 systems that are both well above WGT suggested specs, yet neither can run the game without several meter issues.

If you are in the market to buy (wish I was), do a ton of research.  Much more important than processor speed and RAM is the video card.  Do some research on the video card to ensure it can handle the load this game presents.  Plenty of sites you can google to get feedback on the computer you are looking at.

You can use a Internet accelerator. (free demo)

You can download Leatrix Latency fix. (free)

You can try Firfox's new web browser. (free)

You can upgrade your Internet connection from your Internet Service Provider.

You can download a free program that blocks flash ads. (perform a Google search) This will allow web pages to load faster.

Be sure to keep your flash cache cleared before game play. Clear the browser cache after a WGT update.

Be sure to play the game with all windows and programs closed, also bookmark the game client window. Don't play fast. Give the game a chance to respond to your aim adjustments, and/or commands.

The other option is to upgrade to a new laptop or desktop like Jake mentioned. There are many things people can do to their machines to play this game with some piece of mind, unfortunately, everyone's issues they experience with this game are different in nature from PC to PC. There's not a one time fix-all for everyone equally.

While I agree with you on Leatrix latency fix. And am going to try the internet accelerator you shouldn't clear your flash cache that often. Doing that will cause some very long load times as there will no graphics preloaded from you cache. Also though i haven't tried the newest version of Firefox, I find that Chrome Iron runs the game so much smoother. And also anyone who has problems with game performance should try Game Booster 2. And make sure your video card drivers are kept up to date. Out dated video drivers don't work as well with the newest version of Flash. Also keep the drive that your browser is installed on defragged.

    born,

Internet accelerator is kind of a sneaky name, lol - nothing is gonna give you more bandwidth than what your isp is providing short of upgrading your package.

These can configure some background settings to allow you to better utilize that bandwidth, however, based on your connection type.

I've used this with great success:

test your online speed at several sites, several times each, and get a good average of your current speed, then install this and let it work its magic. After that, reboot and try the same speed tests to see if/what gain you have experienced.

Easily configured, and easy un-configured, just follow the directions carefully! No trial on it, it is completely free.
