It's hard for me to decide to go with Taylormade wedges, Ping wedges, or a mix.  At first I was going to go with a mix of Ping lob wedge and two Taylormade sand-wedges.  But my mind changed on the sand-wedges cause Pings have nice increments to work shots between clubs.  I can't decide because that extra spin and forgiveness on Taylormades looks helpful.

The Starter SW and LW you have compliments your irons pretty well.  It keeps a consistant gap, or as you say "increments", throughout the set and meter speeds are similar.

One of the first wedges I bought, which fit the iron set I had at the time, were Satin TP 54 (85 yrds) and 60 (65 yards) and I still use them...I think they are a good buy at 110 credits if you can fit them into your game.

imo the extra precision of the Pings more than makes up for the slightly lesser spin and forgiveness

I forgot to mention that I was going to get G10 irons.

Of course you have the level points to buy just about anything you want...but in turms of upgrading without spending a lot, the G10 (L17+) irons along with the Z Satin 54 and 60 degree (L14+), on paper, fit like a glove in my opinion.  Check out the pro shop facts and you'll see what I mean.

I have all the Taylormade wedges, and love them.  Very nice switching them out to match the course you are playing.  Currently playing.  98(punch 80), 77(punch 63), and 50(41 punch)  coupled with the g10's and a distance of 115 with PW, not too many yardage gaps.

    Cheers,

A buddy of mine says ping wedges are a tad slower than taylors.  Is that true?  He believes this because he has both types of wedges.

It is possible but it depends on when the wedges were purchased.

When experience levels were introduced on Sept. 1st, 2010 the club swing speeds were tweaked to make them "easier to hit".  The swing speeds were slowed down a tad on Sept. 1st.

The "old" Ping and TM wedges bought before 9/1 had identical swing speeds.

The "new" Ping and TM wedges bought on or after 9/1 also have identical swing speeds, but they are a tad slower than the "old" wedges.  A tad = about 0.1 second.

Keep in mind, it is also true that a TM wedge bought after 9/1 will be slower than a Ping wedge bought before 9/1.

Tomorrow is the big day that I get the rest of my clubs, and I still have one last thing to decided.  Which 3wood would fit my set best?  At first I wanted an R9 3wood for it's good forgiveness and roll; then I liked the G10 3wood for it's high trajectory for those long par 3s.  I'd hope that trajectory would help in rough as well since I'll be rolling without a hybrid.

    W000T,

I have the G10 Irons, and the 210 yard iron gets me there just fine in all par 3's, and will help me reach most greens on par 5's.  Then again, I'm not sure what driver you carry, I carry the G10 270 yard driver...and continually hit 280 with it.  I don't carry a wood or hybrid myself, I carry 4 wedges...feel free to check out my bag.  The high trajectory is awesome, as my shots are sticking to the greens like glue, even from 210 yards out.

    good golfing,

    Long
