What should it be? New player here and have about 800 credits. Driver, balls, putter?

    Thanks,

Avatar, it won't wear out and will last your lifetime. Balls wear out fast or you loss them out of bounds. Clubs need upgrading regularly as you advance.

Best to save the credits really.

You really think I should spend on an Avatar? I was thinking more along the lines of a good driver, putter, or balls even?

Wait some time (L38?) and earn some more credits to spend some on two quality short wedges, e.g. ATV.

I must agree with Al...truly. Early on, one can "breeze" through the lower levels in a snap. It really doesn't slow down much until, say what? level 60-70? And until around, say L-35 or 40, the clubs are only slightly better than starter stuff, and until around L-90+, none of what you buy comes with much of a warrenty. If you have some "dough", it is a different story....BUY, BUY, BUY !!!

OMG, no. And leave the balls out of the equation, they wear out. A driver would probably be the best choice because it won't wear out and you'll benefit from the closer approaches. Then again, the wedges are a good choice, too, as they will make getting up and down easier. If you had to choose between the 2, the wedges are probably a better investment.

I got some very good advice that served me well.   My first purchase was the R11 3w at level 30 - this will double up as a driver until you get to Master level, after that it's wedges all the way, they are the clubs that save shots.  If you want to go this route message my wall when you get to level 30 and I'll send you one.

(I've sent you a US Open avatar - they're free!)

    Good luck to you.

    Sue

Thanks Sue! I like the idea of the R11 3 wood acting as both a driver and 3 wood. Is that what you meant? I will grind it out to get to L30 and message you! Thanks!!!!

    Can't go wrong with:

    Cleveland Wedges (27)
Taylor Made Ghost Spider (35), or any similar 3.5 Precision putter (find increments u like)
    Taylor Made R15 3 Fairway Wood (41)
    Taylor Made R1 TP 9.0 (48)
    PING G25 Iron Set (59)

You can start think about balls after all those.  This set up will safely move you along the ranks till level 90+ (or at least till you save more credits from surveys or Tournament wins).
